My family(15) of us are going down April 28th-May 7th. We are saddened that both Big Thunder and Soarin are closed. Why would close 2 of their biggest rides at any 1 time in all of Disney is a wonder to me, but it is what it is. I have accepted it. But there are a few things that would make for those losses. All say "spring of 2016" and I am hoping that we win on them. So does anyone have any real dates for:

The nighttime safari
River of Light at AK
the Frozen ride in EPCOT

and.. any thoughts on if they will still be doing the fireworks at DHS for Star Wars?

Thanks for the help!

No idea about most of your questions, but I think the DHS Star Wars fireworks are only scheduled thru March.

With the closures, BTMRR is a yearly planned thing that happens during "slower" times, and is coordinated with other attractions at MK. It's unfortunate for those of us that like to go during that time, but it's just how it is. Soarin is closed due to the improvements, so that timing, while also unfortunate, is independent of other attractions and was sorely needed.

The other attractions you have asked about do not have any firm dates yet released. They're asked about all of the time on the boards, but Disney just has not released any new information about those, only estimates. Rivers of Light is rumored to premier on Earth Day, but again, that's a rumor. And like the other poster said, Star Wars so far is only scheduled through March, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's it for it.

EDIT: I'll just specify that the refurbs aren't always the exact same time, and do change, but often are. It can be hard to plan around them unfortunately.

We'll be there the third week of April and are also hoping SOMETHING new will be open. Sigh... Rumors are welcome!

They do try to avoid having major attractions closed at the same time. Soarin' and BTMRR are in separate parks, so it's not really like two headliners in the same park are closed at the same time.

If you're lucky and the rumors are correct, you should be able to do ROL, night-time Safari, AND Frozen. That's the optimistic take on it anyway. I've heard earth day for the AK stuff and May 1st for frozen. Just keep your ear to the ground about soft opens, etc.
