Are we eligible for DDP?

I've read the info but I'm am a bit confused. Dining is far more complex at WDW than at DLR. :goodvibes

DH and I are staying at SSR next March for our anniversary. The ILs used one of their timeshares and exchanged into the villa for us as a gift. I know that DVC members can buy the DDP. Would we be able to too? I'm thinking no, but just wanted to check to see if there is something I'm overlooking? Just trying to start running the numbers either way. :goodvibes

TIA!

I think you can. You just need the DVC owner to phone in and book the DDP for you. I believe you still pay for it when you arrive and check in.

From everything I've heard, trading in via timeshare means you're treated in most respects as a DVC member for the trade period (exceptions: pool hopping privileges and DVC discounts in restaurants/stores). Whatever name the reservation is under would need to contact member services to add the dining plan.

Thank you :goodvibes FIL mentioned something about the owner saying that Disney had a dining plan that we could buy, but the guidelines on WDW's site was a bit confusing to me. I appreciate your help in clearing things up. :wizard:

Since this is a trade you will call DVC member services to make the DDP arrangements or magical express reservations.

Make sure your fil gets a guest certificate from RCI for you. Once the reservation is in your name you can call DVC member services and plan away.

A trade in works differently than if your fil had rented a reservation for you or gave you a reservation he owned with his DVC points. He did pay an extra resort fee when he did the trade that goes to DVC member services to cover this.

Thanks very much for the info, Janet. We just got our RCI confirmation and the guest certificate today. So we just call DVC member services now? Can we book DDP 10 months out? I've seen 2010 prices, but not 2011.

Bumping this up to see if anyone has DVC Member Services number.

Also, do we need to pay for at least a 1 day pass through Disney in order to get the DDP if it's a DVC booking? :confused3 I was planning on ordering my tickets through UT, but wanted to check first in case I need to order directly through Disney. Thanks! :goodvibes

I guess I could have responded to this as well. DVC guests are not required to have tickets in order to book the DDP.
