We are all set to leave on Saturday for our two weeks in WDW     When I tell some folks at work or in the neighborhood where we are going, they say, "Oh, we feel sorry for you." Apparently WDW is not for everyone and some see it as a chore to take their kids. We love it and feel it is our home away from home. Anyone else get these silly comments? What do you say?

I say let them feel that away...less people going to WDW and less crowds for us "crazies" to deal with!! :rotfl:

those people don't know what they're missing!
Disney is not a theme park it is a way of life

Is this a trick question?

Just two more sleeps until my 52nd day trip in 4.5 months!

I've got comments like that a lot. For people that have never been there, they seem to think Disney World is just one park. And its only for kids. My husband thought the same way till I finally got him there and he was surprised at how much fun he had.

I feel the same way cepmom feels. Less crowds for us!

I HATE when "they" say, "Don't you want to go somewhere else?"

NO!

I'm so used to those comments, I barely register them anymore and I usually don't waste my breath trying to explain anything anymore.

My brother and SIL made fun of me for years about my love for Disney, I finally got them to go on a big family trip to WDW and while they didn't become DIS'ers or anything, they've stopped making fun of me! :goodvibes

If it's crazy to be absolutely in love with Walt Disney World.............then I plead: GUILTY AS CHARGED!!!!!!! :wave2:

My husband's aunt said to me this past weekend "aren't you and Joe (my husband) getting bored going every year--don't you want to go somewhere else?

Yep I get those kind of comments too(mostly about Disneyland since I've only been to WDW once so far). But I don't care. :) I don't understand why people make those kind of comments anyway. I never question anyone else about going on vacation to the same place every year.

I always hear the same thing from my in-laws. "Disney again? Don't you want to go on a real vacation out of Florida?". Ba Humbug on them. Disney is a world in itself. Once you get on the property, all your worries melt away.

Yeah, I got those comments too, especially from my niece who will now be making her first trip there in Oct. I don't think she has a clue as to what she is in for even though several people have tried to explain it to her. She's 20something so you know she is just so worldly and knows all. She keeps talking about how she is going to lounge around the pool after "the" park and at least one day she isn't going to "the" park. She doesn't get it. But she will soon! :earsgirl:

I get tired of my "friends" ( I use the term some loosely with the comments that they sometime make) saying "WOW!! You must have tons of MONEY!!" (Putting on my FLAME SUIT!!!!) No, we do not. We do not smoke (like they do) we do not party EVERY weekend (like they do) We work EVERY day!!! (like they DON'T!!!!!) Sometimes 7 days a week with VERY LITTLE sleep (I own my own business). We make going to WDW a special time. In owning my own business, I HAVE to be 5-6 hours from work to be able to relax!!! To know that I won't be called for an emergency and have to pack up and leave!!!!

That is how I feel, I've been to Busch Gardens because we got a year pass for relatively cheap (about the price of 1 1/2 tickets), but everytime I was there I was thinking to myself that I wish this was like disney. I wish there was more detail to the park, I wish it was laid out better (alot of times you have to backtrack to get somewhere). Just everywhere else doesn't have the magic that disney has.

Thankfully I have more people around me that are disney addicts, like myself. My boss, who is wonderful otherwise, can't stand anything Disney. He says he just doesn't get it. Well, I don't get how anyone doesn't get the greatest place on earth! 4 more days to go :cool1: :earsgirl:

We get that all the time too. Our kids are little, 2 and 4, so its usually followed with something along the lines of "Aren't your kids a little young? Wouldn't you rather wait until they're older and go somewhere else now?" Then I politely explain that our kids have been visiting WDW regularly since they were infants, and no, they aren't too young, and no we wouldn't rather go to somewhere else. As others have said, the less they like it, the less crowds for us to deal with.

What I wonder is why someone would want to go and spend their vacation just sitting out on the beach. Especially when you could be at WDW. I mean, how boring and unimagainative is that. My friend is off for a week and she is planning to just lay in the sun all day, everyday. So they may criticize my choice of vacation but I would be bored to tears on their trip. To each his own I guess.

The comment that drove me crazy when the kids were younger was, "Why don't you wait until they're old enough to remember it?" Perhaps I should lock them in the closet until they're 6 since they won't remember it? Actually my kids (11 and 7) do remember details about our past trips, but even if they didn't, they had a great time - the experience is different at each stage of their lives. At age 3, the magic was so real - the characters were real and just seeing the castle was enough to satisfy them. Now they can ride the bigger rides and enjoy it in a totally different way. I wouldn't give up any of our Disney experiences.
