We bought into DVC in August and have enought points for 3 trips a year. We are already DLR AP holders and go at least once a month. (live an hour away) We have 3 kids 16,3, and 4 months. We have been getting alot of snide comments from family members wondering why we would fly to Florida 3 times in a period of a year. They think we are crazy. Anyone else have this happen to them, and, are we overdoing it a little?

P.S. when we go to DLR we usually stay in a hotel for the weekend, and the kids love it. Even our 4 month old just goes with the flow. I don't see why this is anybody's business.

I hope you continue to do the things that you love to do!! Lots of people here get those sort of comments from others. I try not to mention all of our trips to each and everyone, but sometimes things slip out. I would go more often if I could. There are all sorts of WDW vacations, experience them all with your family.

If you're  , all I can say is :welcome: to the party: !
Sincerely,
Another

Just one more opinion from another wacko! Ignore those who do not understand and an just enjoy! I would also go more often if airfare were cheaper. Right now we go once a year, but I would love to go 2-3. Consider yourselves enlightened and have fun!

And, like DVC Grammy, welcome to the party:

The people that know my family think we are Disney nuts but I think you really are! :) Every month to Anaheim and 3 times a year to WDW?? You must have a lot of disposable income!

Aside from all that money the only thing that would concern me is that going that often would make it more of a routine experience for the kids. I would be scared that it would get old, and become boring and lose the special magic. Personally, there is no way I could do Orlando three times a year. I need a year to recover from every trip (mentally, physically, and financially!).

For adults, it's a different story. My wife and I want to retire there and get PT jobs at CMs! We'll work for free if they give us a spot in Fr. Wilderness for the gigantic Class A we will buy! :)

I earn Hilton Honors points from my work related travel, so our hotel stays at DLR are free. We have Annual passes so we do not pay admission everytime we go. Our biggest expense will be our WDW trips. Airline tickets from the west coast are outragous.
We have a vacation savings account that we contribute to. We will pay for everything before we leave. I was a former DLR cast member in college, so I am aware of the burn out factor. It has not happened yet. My daughter asks me weekly when we are gong to "Dland" If we sense this starts to happen we will back off a little. Once our infant is 3 we will have to move up to a 2 bedroom. This will require more points, and we will most likely go down to two trips a year to WDW. In addition, one of our trips is in August. I have been warned about summer heat. If this is too much for us, we may just go in December and March.

I lot of people just don't get it! :sad2:

As well as a lot of people just can't afford it........I'm sure there are a lot of people you know that wish they could go 3 times a year. We leave on our #2 trip this year and we get snide comments all the time. Just turn a cheek and say I'll see you when we get back.

This isn't anyone's business, but your's. Don't worry about what others think about your excellent vacations. They are probably envious! Now, about the...We have 3 kids 16,3, and 4 months...... time to stop. You will not be able to take a truly relaxing vacation until that last one is married or self-sustaining. Sorry... just my experience. Someone needs to get something cut and tied... Hey Big Boy... step up and take it like a man. YIKES... I am really letting out tonight... Too much wine I think.

We just returned from a AP rate stay (didn't want to borrow into next years points).

So I go into work today and they ask if I'm bummed about being back .I just smiled and said no I only have 45 days and I 'm right back.

They all think I'm crazy as well. Went for training in L.A. last Feb and left 6:30 am Eastcoast time so we could spend our travel day in DL with co-worker thats never been .Boy did he get an adventure all he did all day was call his grown children and tell them what they have missed all these years.

Enjoy life while life is enjoyable.

If it isn't anyone's business but the OP's how he/she chooses to vacation, surely it isn't anyone's business but the OP's how many children they choose to have...zero, three, a dozen...up to them!

Our families are so similar. My stepson is going to be 17 this month, my DD 3 in dec and my baby four months this month.!!

To go back to your comment, we live in FL, and we purchased DVC last year with the hopes of going 2 or 3 times a year. After our first trip as DVC members last year I found out I was pregnant, so we only did a short trip this year during memorial day and to be honest, I don't see myself going to the world with an infant that doesn't sit by herself yet (thinking about how to manage high chairs and meal times)

The difference is, of course, that living in south florida, a lot of people do go twice or more times a year to central florida, so it is not that anyone will see you weird, but my family certainly doesn't understand my affection to the world. When they go to Orlando they stay off site and prefer Universal to WDW. They still don't get why we decided to purchase an expensive time share inside disney when it is so easy to get a hotel for $60/night outside, when after all "you only go to the room to sleep". :sad2:

As well as yours, my dauther keeps asking when are we going back to the world so she could see her princesses again. I guess by January when the heat finally let down, I will be more willing to take the trip with the baby.

Yep... You are right. I should just shut my mouth when it comes to having children... Thanks.

DWELTY I apologize. I wasn't suggesting that you have too many children. What took my breath was that when your last child is grown you will have spent 35-40 years raising children (if you don't have any more down the road). Sorry, my bad.

They can think what they want, if you are like us we just love to be at Disney.

I was down five weeks ago, and I will be going down again in six week. I am already thinking about a couple of days in January or February. Don't worry about the way others think.

As I have often said, my going down to WDW a couple of times a year is no different than people who go to other vacation destinations a few times a year.

The only concern my family has is that I won't find a woman who likes to visit WDW as much as I do.

Some people are just jealous. :confused3

DH and I get it worse because we have no children so we always hear some comment. I've learned to just say that were going to Orlando instead of saying Walt Disney World. Which is true because we usually rent a car and venture out and we have a good friend who lives there that we always visit. Most people just associate WDW to children, so when they think of two grown adults constantly going, they really think we're wacko. :Pinkbounc

You could always use some of those points at Grand Californian when you do your weekend jaunts. We used points there in August, it was great! :yay:

We live in Milwaukee, WI and make it down 2 - 3 times per year. We also get comments from family members, mostly my DH's family. His mom dosen't get it and thinks we are nuts.

Don't let other people's comments impact how you live your life. If it makes you and your family happy then go for it!
