Are we crazy --or just addicted?

I debated about even admitting this on DIS but here goes...

I love the escape from reality when @ the World. We went in Dec. 05 then again in May 06. That was something b/c my husband had just lost his job 2 wks prior, but we went anyway since the trip was already planned & paid for (thanks to Disney Visa).

So, here we are months later and my DH has yet to find a job (we still paid off the 5/06 trip within the 6 months needed for no finance charge). I started asking abt going to WDW again last month. My thinking was this -- we still have income that's meeting our needs (though we have indeed had to change some habits), and once DH gets another job, he'll probably not get vacation time for quite awhile. DH said no at first. But...

We're going to WDW in 10 days --just decided a few days ago! If not for the Disney Visa no finance charge for 6 months there's no way we'd even consider going. People probably are thinking we're crazy -- and we're probably not going to tell anyone away from the boards!! The thing is, DH & I have been quite stressed with him not having a job and being together a TON at home doing very little else at all. A couple weeks ago, I started thinking it may really help us to escape reality by going to WDW and just soak it up for awhile.

I'm excited honestly, and I'm really not worried about the $ part. I mean, we're not in danger of loosing our home or vehicles. Besides that, DH had a job interview yesterday that was very encouraging --first one in months. And besides that...we do have tax $ coming.... so ...

All this comes down to this ...
A vacation to Disney to bond and strengthen a marriage/family....Is that insane, or what?

Thanks for "listening" I love Disboards!

I think it's great you and your DH are going. As long as your financial needs are being met, who cares what you spend your money on? Yes, you're addicted to Disney, but just like every other Disney fan out there. (including me) I'd go every month if I could afford it. I had to miss going in 2006 because of my sister's wedding. I have a trip booked for this summer. The bottom line is you're making a good choice by going again. Going on a relaxing exciting trip somewhere can be very refreshing and rewarding. Have fun! :goodvibes

My oldest DD is in rehab and her favorite saying is " it's not the drug, it's the addiction". Yes, we are addicted. I love Disney, bought Disney and go to Disney every chance I get.

If your affairs are in order and you like Disney, then go. If the world was one bright happy place there would be no Disney. It is the ultimate in escapism. Life is hard and world a cruel place. Disney is the magic that makes it all ok.

For us it is more special because our DS has autism and for that brief time at Disney he is just a normal little boy excited to be alive. He acts like most other kids and adults. For me, priceless!

Enjoy your addiction.
