Are we crazy if we don't do MVMCP??

Okay, tell me if I'm nuts here... We've gone to WDW several times in early December, and have done MVMCP once. It was awesome, the rides were walk-ons, the fireworks were amazing. But to burn a day off the hoppers and still have to pay nearly $50 extra... we're just not sure it's worth it. We really do like it, it's just really expensive -- and Disney considers DS (10) an adult now, which makes it more expensive for me.

Are we crazy for not going to MVMCP again?? :guilty:

I'm sure you realize you don't have to burn the day off the hoppers. The MVMCP is a hard ticket event that you don't have to use a day on any pass. Since you already know how much fun it is and you can ride a ton of rides, then you pretty much answered your own question.

I agree it's expensive, but you've experienced the Magic of the party and know for you and your family what is best. Good luck in your decision.

I don't think you are crazy. We had fun at MVMCP, but we would probably not do it again.

As for burning a park hopper day, if your tickets are non-expiry, you could just hang out at your hotel pool or DTD for the day, and show up at MK at 4pm for MVMCP, if you want. You don't have to use a park hopper then.

I'm pretty sure this is right. If it's not, someone correct me.

I'm an idiot... LOL It didn't dawn on me that since it was a hard-ticket event, we wouldn't be using a day off our hoppers anyway. Of course, I guess it doesn't matter, because the trip is all paid for and the difference between 5- and 4-day hoppers would be a whole dollar.

So I guess I'm just weighing the other things I could buy with that $85... which is a silly attitude. :p

What's really stupid is that when I thought that tickets were nearly $50 each, I didn't want to go. Then I found out that with advance purchase they're only $44 and change, and somehow that $6 makes all the difference.

Well, if you're silly, so am I! I looked at it from a financial standpoint two. I've gone to WDW twice when there've been MVMCP, but I've always chosen to spend my money on something else, I think one year it was a tour I wanted to do. And I've never regretted it.

MVMCP is an awesome event, but as a frequent visitor to the parks I would never feel compelled.

I tried MVMCP once and thought it was ok, but nothing I'd spend $50 a person to do. The night I went, the park was PACKED!!! There were lines everywhere. Just did not think it was worth the $$.

My husband and I love MVMCP. Granted when we went last year it was quite crowded. There is nothing like that parade and the "snow" to make you feel like a kid again. It is just he and I so the financial burden is not as great as if we were a family of 4. If we had kids I would certainly need to weigh my financial options. I would say to get the same Holiday Feeling visit MGM's Osbourne Family Spectacle of Lights, its included in your admission and they have "snow" as well as pictues with Characters in their holiday gear.
