My family(me, dh, dd2, and ds1) are very fortunate to live close to disney. We love the campground because it offers so much and is so inexpensive. We take alot of weekend trips there. We have AP's and right now we are soaking up all we can of the kids being free. We are planning a last minute weekend trip Nov20-22. We can't take the camper so we have to stay in a resort. Well we picked the the cabins! Are we cheating ourselves of experiencing other parts of disney? We like the campground b/c it has boat transportation to MK, and we have the Golfcarts to get around in. We also like the cabins b/c of the two seperate rooms so we can put the kids down and still hang out in the other room. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions

You're going to WDW, you're spending time together as a family, you are being mindful of a budget and sticking to it....I don't see that as cheating yourselves.

That's right your in Disney !!! With 2 little ones being at a location that is familiar will make the routine easier for you. I think you are best being at the cabins. There is plenty of time for you to explore other resorts. For right now the cabins are right for you.
Enjoy have a wonderful time and the next time a great deal comes up for a quick weekend at the beach club...you'll be there.

We have only stayed in one resort at Disney. We like it there and don't want to stay someplace new and not like it. As long as money isn't an option, then the cabins are fine. If you need to save money then I'd try a value. Either way, you'll be at Disney! Have a great trip!

As far as I can tell, if you're in the World, all is right in mine! Try a different resort when the kids are old enough to really appreciate the atmousephere!:)

Nope, another vote against the cheating!

Disney is an individual experience for everyone. Camping is just your thing. I've considered it and would love to, it's just convincing everyone else!

I think it's wonderful that you guys chose to do Disney this way.

:thumbsup2 We go to DLR a LOT, see my siggie....we've stayed onsite twice in the past 2.5 years....we just can't justify it every time, and we can go so much more if we don't stay on site......stay where you like, you'll have a great time together! :)

Edited to add that when we go to WDW we want to stay in the cabins too! :) And we will probably only go once or twice. :)

I don't think you are cheating yourself, either! I think what you are doing is awesome. It sounds to me like you are really enjoying your children while they are young. How wonderful. They grow up so fast. To me, the thrill is just being at Disney World.

My father says, "Never mess with a winning combination!"

this is so true as how many times have we picked something (restaurant, hotel, etc) and its lousy and we wished we picked what we loved?

I have a coworker who has an AP and they only stay at the campgrounds now too. They just bought a 3rd wheel so they don't have to campout in the tents anymore, but they still stay there.

Its not cheating.. folks love the monorail resorts for convenience.. some like the moderates and others like the values... nothing wrong in staying where you like.

How lucky are you to live near by WDW! Also, another vote for not cheating! I hope you have a magical trip:wizard:

Hey...I'm going to capitalize on your love of the campgrounds. We just got our trailer in May and will be camping at Ft. Wilderness in March and June. (We're camping at Tropical Palms in December because the Fort is booked. Booo.) Have you got any advice for 1st timers? We've got a 31 ft. travel trailer and booked a full-service site. Are any loops better than others? I'm dying to know the deal from someone with little kids. It seems everyone I talk to about it is a bit older. Thank you and sorry to hijack your thread!

I've stayed in five resorts and I can't say I feel like I accomplished anything by that. If you're happy where you've always been, stay there and maybe go visit the other resorts. :-)
