I am taking my Sat Nav with me as we are planning on do some travelling our second week in Florida. I have just purchased a Car Charger and realised they may be different.

Does anyone know if they are they the same fit and power ?

Good news American Cars these days are 12v Negative Earth - in plain english your charger will work unless you are hiring an old Classic Car which would be 12v Positive Earth. The size of the socket is also the same as hear as my son used it frequently last year to charge his nintendo ds. :thumbsup2

Yes they are - I always use it to charge my mobile phone when we are there.

have you noteced that they take out the part that goes in the lighter, to discourage you from smoking in car

Does anyone actually use them for lighting cigarettes nowadays anyway - should be renamed DS/PSP/iPod charging port :teacher:

I think that you'll find that the heated part of the cigarette lighter is now not fitted by the manufacturer, unless a smokers' option pack is ordered when ordering the new vehicle from the dealer.
