Are they gonna mess with the Castle...

for the October 1st Kick-Off for the "Dreams"? We're leaving Saturday morning and I'd love the see the Castle the way it should be all of the time!!!!NAKED!!!

I'm just the opposite! I have NEVER seen the castle decorated! I was hoping they would have left the gold on it for this celebration. WEll, I guess I have to plan better next time and find out when it will be decorated again.

Wejust got back and during our stay they got all of the decorations down, including the magic mirror..which was there at the start of our trip and gone by the end. The crane was up several days too in the morning....and it was obvious that they had been painting the turrets as they were a darker shade of lue. A CM who took our picture told me that it will be decorated with clouds next....I have no idea if this info is accurate, or what exactly it meant...but can't wait to see pics!

please no, please no, please no! i am worried that the castle will look hideous in Nov. it will be our first trip since we were very small children. i strongly dislike the trend of tacky castle decor. classic is best!

Absolutely agree! I actually didn't mind the gold, but I hope they don't start decorating it for every promotional theme they come up with.

The turrets are being painted dark blue. I am at the World, you can tell.

There was a huge crane up this morning. Really distracting, it was right at the top turrent.

They lowering at about 2 hours after opening though.

Decorating the Castle once in a great while, for a really big celebration is one thing. But messing with it for every promo is too much, IMHO. I hope they just give it a fresh coat of paint & leave it alone.

If they start this decorate the castle for every occassion, it becomes like the boy who cried wolf. People will start to ignore the changes and long for the original. The gold was significant for the golden anniversary of Disneyland and the castle had not changed in years so it was special, but constant change will dilute the mistique of the fairy tale castle everyone has come to expect.

On the other hand, its ability to change on some imagineer's whim adds to the fairy tale mistique even more and to the surprise affect of seeing a castle (a surreal castle at that) at the end of the turn-of-the 20th century main street in a representative small town USA.
