Are they being strict with Fastpass times?

Our family has always found that using fastpasses has been a lifesaver on our trips. One of the things I liked was that even if you went back to the ride or attraction after your fastpass hour was over they would still honor it. A friend of mine told me a couple of months ago that they were no longer honoring fastpasses after the hour on the pass. Does anyone know if this is true? We have a trip planned this summer and I want to be able to plan accordingly. Thanks.

They're very strict now. We saw several people trying to get in a few minutes ahead of their time and they were told to wait. The CM's are enforcing the return times now. Though we did see foreigners who just breezed right through even when the CM kept asking to see their FP.

Really? That would really make me angry.

They didn't understand English. The poor CM kept trying to stop them for their FP but they kept on walking.:rotfl: I felt badly for the CM, she looked pretty frazzled by having to enforce the time frame. I wouldn't want that job!

We just returned and they enforced the FP return times with one exception for us. We were going to be tight on an ADR and my husband asked the attendant about our options and they let us enter 5 minutes early, which was just enough wiggle time for us to make our ADR. We saw two instances of people trying to come back after the FP time (greater than 1 hour for one and greater than 3 hours for the other one) and the CMs turned them away.

I was in the FP line for Kilimanjaro earlier this month and the guy in front of me had a single FP for himself and his wife and child. The CM kept explaining they needed one EACH, not a FP for the group, but they just kept saying a few foreign words and looking at each other confused. Eventually the CM just shook his head and let them on. Guess which party of three chitchatted in perfect English for the entire rest of the line about where to get lunch, what time FOTLK was on, etc. I couldn't believe the audacity.

I witnessed the same at Expedition Everest, a family of three didn't have fast passes but went through the fast pass line. Anyways they acted as though they spoke no English and after many times of the cm telling them they couldn't enter without a fp he gave up and let them enter. They then got out of earshot of the first cm and giggled and began speaking english perfectly, ugghhh. So then I thought they may be turned away when you had to actually hand over your fp at the second cm- nope same trick and an exasperated cm let them through. I feel bad for the cm's but there has to be a way to enforce that. Although, I think magic bands might help ( even though I'm not at all excited for the new fp rules as they are rumored to be)

We just came back yesterday. Yes they enforce the times, but we also noticed that in some instances, the wait time between passes was shorter. In other words, I can't remember what ride it was but we could get a new fast pass before the old one's BEGIN time started. Everest broke down, so they honored all the passes that were valid during the time it was down waaaayyy after expiration time.

This happens all the time. Saw it at least once in each park last September and I am quite sure We will see it again this September. Of course they understand English. I wish the CMs would wise up. No way do I ever let the "no speak English" folks ahead of us. I simply smile and walk right by.

The general rule is that you can get a new fast pass when the return window for your current one begins or in two hours, whichever comes first.

I've usually noticed a 1 hour wait for a new pass. CM are there to enforce rules to a point. Nobody wants to see a scene at "the happiest place on earth" so they don't get confrontational. But it does tick me off that people play the "i don't speak english" routine to break the rules.

The fastpass plus system is cool, but I don't like planning my trip in advance. I don't want to decide that Monday is MK day, and tues Epcot. We are laid back and sometimes we had so much fun in one park, we want to go back the next day again. Or maybe we change our mind once we are down there. If I can log on the night before from the room and still get FP+ for the park, then I will be happy.

Best info I've seen is that you CAN change your FP+ on your phone or at kiosks in the park - however right now that's easy with lots of options because few people are actually on the system. Not sure how it will all look once FP+ is fully implemented - I mean if ppl book all the FP+ 6 m in advance the chances you will be able to change the day before, or day of, to a whole different set of (desirable) rides is not going to be very good...they'll probably all (okay all the ones most of US would use a FP now for) be booked up

My family was part of the FP+ testing in the MK this past December. We had left directly from using our last FP+ at the TTF meet n' greet and were going to the meet n' greet near the front of the park. We were having a hard time finding the wheelchair ramp to the top so I ran ahead and explained the situation since there were three minutes left before the FP+ expired. The CM told me he would turn my DM away if we were even one minute late so I ran out to get her card, ran back, and scanned us both in. I could go on about how the FP+ system is not HC friendly at all, but that is for another time.

So yeah, no exceptions for spending every moment between your FP+ times attempting to travel from one attraction to the other through crowds in a wheelchair and being ONE minute late. Remember, these were FP+ times assigned to us and basically unchangeable at that time.

So how does this work? Do you have to be on the fast pass line for the attraction you chose within the hour, just not earlier then the time slot or after the time slot?

Omg...when we were there 3 weeks ago, they were downright rude about it...I was only 5 minutes early, and she made me wait till the exact time...then a couple came with the same time, and she let them in, so she then let me in...so rude. I don't know about being late, but can't be a LITTLE early either.
