Pixar always does this, I've never noticed it in the Disney movies though. I had seen pictures and heard about Rapunzel and Flynn in Frozen but didn't notice it in the theaters.

Belle definitely walks right through town in Hunchback.
Mickey and friends can be seen in Little Mermaid.

Pixar has for idontknowhowlong put a character from the next Pixar movie in every Pixar movie. For example:
- In Monsters, Inc., Nemo appears.
- In Finding Nemo, there's a comic book, "The Incredibles" seen in one scene
- Dug from Up can be spotted in Ratatouille.
- In Up, you can spot Lotso from Toy Story 3.
And many more.

"Easter eggs" are pretty common in animation or where backgrounds are done by artists.

A few years ago I saw "The Art of Star Wars" exhibition in San Francisco. They had original costumes and matte paintings from the original Star Wars trilogy. Darth Vader's life support suit had Hebrew on the control panel. There was a painting of a lineup of troops included on with a smiley face. The 2nd Death Star had an image of the Transamerica Pyramid alongside docking equipment.

Yep! Disney and PIXAR always do these little tributes and in-jokes in their films! I love catching them. One that I found that I found cool was in the Princess and the Frog. During the beginning "Down in New Orleans" song scene, as the camera pans through the scene and down to the ground, you'll see a person on a balcony of the New Orleans style buildings dusting a carpet out against the railing of the balcony. The carpet is actually the magic carpet in Aladdin! :wizard:
