This may have already been covered but I cannot find it so I am hoping you can help. I am not sure if these items would technically be considered liquids...crayons, pens and markers (the small kind that come in kids' art kits).
Thanks for the replys.

No, anything that can hold its shape is not considered a liquid and therefore, can be taken on the plane.....

Now paint would be a different story.

You may be thinking about the comparision of lipstick vs. lip gloss. I use lip gloss, so it is considered a liquid and I have to check it.

I have never seen an issue with lipstick that I can remember....

You can carry on inside a zippered quart size bag any liquids that are 3.4 fl oz or less. Including lip gloss. If you have a prescription gel, liquid, lotion, etc. that exceeds the 3.4 oz. just make sure it is in it's original package with the prescription label attached and TSA will make an exception. This is the ONLY exception and it MUST be a prescription not over the counter. Never check prescriptions.

Markers, lip gloss (never seen one over 3.4 fl oz), toothpaste, etc. are all acceptable.

Thanks. I have all of my carry on liquids in the quart size ziploc. I can squeeze the tiny markers in there, too. I just don't have room in there for crayons or pens. I am bringing activity and color books to help pass the long flight.

Actually, medicine does NOT have to be prescription. Over the counter is fine. Saline solution (or other solution for contact lenses) is also medically exempted from the 3.4oz limit.

I suggest you check out the TSA website. The following is taken directly from the website (bolding mine).

Additionally, we are continuing to permit prescription liquid medications and other liquids needed by persons with disabilities and medical conditions. This includes:

* All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including KY jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes;
* Liquids including water, juice, or liquid nutrition or gels for passengers with a disability or medical condition;
* Life-support and life-sustaining liquids such as bone marrow, blood products, and transplant organs;
* Items used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or shells containing gels, saline solution, or other liquids; and,
* Gels or frozen liquids needed to cool disability or medically related items used by persons with disabilities or medical conditions

They don't need to go into the baggy.

Do remember that you get a bag for each ticketed passenger in your party, though.

And don't make the bag a jumble. They like it if everything can be separated, sit by itself in the bag, so they dont' have to sift through things. I always have to sort of juggle the bags as I'm putting them in the bin, so they sit flatter. :)

One major exception (to us last weekend at least) to the 3 oz liquid rule is snow globes! Last week we bought a 2009 mickey statue with a small snowglobe on it. I decided to put it in the WDW bag filled with other delicate WDE stash since I didn't want it to break in the suitcase and I knew it was under 3 oz. of liquid. They stopped us at the security line and wouldn't let us take it though. They were nice about it but they said snow globes of any size are banned. Go figure! We always get one family memento of our trip and this was the one for this trip so we weren't too happy. So make sure you put any snowglobes in our luggage! We did all wonder what they do with stuff like this that they confiscate.

Thanks. I have flown many times since the baggie rule so I have figured out how to make my bag so neat it's scary. My local airport is prety small...the security guard we ALWAYS get is a big grump and likes to flex his muscle around. He always goes through all of my stuff and opens everything. Last time he opened my brand new POWDERED eyeshadow and rubed his fingers over it (thank goodness he was wearing gloves) all the while he was glaring at me. He will make my bag look like a jumble when he is through.

Actually, on the TSA site, all the way at the bottom of the 'permitted / prohibited' section where it shows if it can go carry on or checked http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#11
it shows..

Snow globes and like decorations regardless of size or amount of liquid inside, even with documentation.
of course as pointed out, carry on, no checked, yes.

Would hand sanitizer wipes (the ones that come in single foil packages) be considered liquid?

There are signs at the snowglobe displays reminding people that snowglobes are not permitted in carry-on bags. It was also printed on the bottom of every receipt we got from a shop.
