Hi all,
Has anyone been to 'Ohana recently who can confirm that gummi worms are still being handed out to the kids after the coconut races? The last 2 times we were there the restaurant "ran out" and did not know when their order would be filled. I was not sure if this was true or if it really meant that they were discontinuing this practice. My DS looks forward to getting the worms!!!

TIA!

BUMPING!!!

Has NO ONE been to 'Ohana with children for dinner recently?!!!Would really appreciate someone taking the time to answer this!

TIA!

Not recent but we didn't see any sign of anything like that in June 2006.

Please don't take this the wrong way...... that said, can't you just buy a $2 bag of gummi worms and give them to your kids? I can't imagine selecting a restaurant based on getting a few free gummi worms...

Hi! Again not recent, but we did not see any in July of 2006. Sorry.

EpcotGuy, Of course I can not speak for the OP at all, but I know for myself as even an adult and having a child(now 14), I do not decide where to go or not to go because they give this treat with dessert or put a plastic dolphin in your drink(like Coral Reef used to) or any other little thing that one particular restaurant has over another that helps make it special. However, I think those little touches, especially if you have small children, can make an experience nicer. Maybe for the OP's son it isn't so much if he gets a bag of worms from mom, but maybe that at Ohana's the woman or man gives them out is what makes the whole dining experience extra special for him. That is just my personal thoughts on it. :)

Umm...what?

Thanks, Disgirl. I couldn't have said it better. I was dumbfounded by EpcotGuy's response and rendered speechless!

what I had intended to covey was, ohana is a great restaurant (actually one of my favorites), and it is definately well worth a visit - whether or not gummy worms are handed out. Go anyway!

Thanks for clarifying that. We've been to WDW 10 times in the past 5 years and have eaten at 'Ohana at least once during each visit. The last 2 times we were gummiless and DS was disappointed, but it certainly didn't discourage us from eating there again. I was just curious to know if this was another thing that has been discontinued from the restaurant.

I know this may be a little of topic...but is Ohana just for kids? We made reservations (2 adults celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary), but now I am thinking of changing it because of gummi worms and coconut races..What do you think?
:confused3

I was worried about this as well as it's just me and DBF next trip and I really wanted to try Ohanas. From what I read it's a great meal for kids and adults alike, just dont expect a quiet romantic atmosphere.

Thanks for the info..We have other romantic dinners planned (V&A, Narcossee's, California Grill, San Angel Inn), so maybe we can play with the kiddies.
