Are there restrictions with the dining plan?

My friend just got back from WDW yesterday and she was going over her dining with me and I was shocked to find out that the Lotus Blossom Cafe (in China, I believe that's what it's called) puts restrictions on your choices for counter service with the dining plan. Is this right? She said they tell you that you can only choose from one side of the menu and that whatever you choose is your meal, whether it be white rice or an egg roll, that's it. The kids choice was one thing, well that would make it no choice wouldn't it? I'm just wondering if any other restaurant does this. I thought the counter service included one combo meal, dessert & a drink or entree, side,a drink and dessert. Has anyone else encountered this there or any other restaurant?

Thanks!

While we're on the subject, I am going to get to order my lobster at Narcoosee's right? ;)

The Lotus Blossom Cafe does not have combo meals, so you can order one of the rice bowls, but you only get the drink and dessert with it, and not other items.

You can order a combo meal if there is one available, but if there is no combo meal, you don't get to make your own.

I think lobster isn't allowed on the dining plan at Narcoossee's. I know you can't add it on to any entree.

My friends were told they were only allowed to order from the right side of the menu at Lotus Blossom, so that would mean that there are restrictions, correct?

Does anyone have a link to where the restrictions are listed, I have something that I downloaded from the Disney site, but it doesn't say anything about restrictions. I am just wondering if there are separate menues for the dining plan, it's starting to sound that way.

It's not on the dining plan? I know that there is an "add on" one for extra money, but there is also the entree with just lobster on the regular menu. Will they tell me before I order that I am not allowed to order it if it's not allowed?

I don't have all the details, but maybe I can help a little.

At some of the restaurants there are restrictions. Often you can pay out of pocket for add ons such as lobster tails or sushi.

My guess is that some of the servers will tell you up front that certain items aren't allowed, but others won't until you try to order it. I'd suggest you tell the server upfront you are on the plan, and inquire if there are any restrictions.

I had lunch @ lotus last friday-there were no restrictions on the dining plan-I had a chicken & rice dish-soda & cookies-nothing great. :rolleyes1

Yes, the regular Lobster entree is on the plan. Remember, you have to use two TS credits for this restaurant. One of staff member's parents just got back from a trip to the GF, and she had the lobster on the dining plan at Narcoosees.

You can only get a baclava for dessert at Tangierine Cafe - or at least that's what I was told in May. And apparently they will not let you have your choice of dessert if you get breakfast at the Pepper Market. It's a cookie or a muffin, no other options.

My family went to Narocesee's and had both the two pound lobster and the the lobster and filet.

Both were VERY GOOD!!!

You have made my night! :worship: :worship: :worship:
I just wanted to make sure I could order the lobster dish off the menu (not an add on) especially since I am using two dc's for this meal. BTW, did your family enjoy the restaurant? I've heard nice things about it, was just hoping the food is good and the experience nice.

Cookie or a Muffin for dessert at the Pepper Market? I don't know about you, but the last time I had a muffin for dessert was...ummm...oh yeah, never! Well, I guess there are some restrictions but they more or less sound like the CS'. I can live with that, I just don't want to be restricted on dinner, I was 100% sure you couldn't do "add ons" but I wanted to make sure you could order from the regular everynight menu for dinner. BTW, my friends ate at CG and had no restrictions there.

:disrocks:

We just got back from Disney with the dining plan, and not only did we not hit any restrictions, we were encouraged to order more. Now that I feel I have dealt w/ the dining plan, you really can stretch it to cover a breakfast or two. The counter service when you add on dessert is really a lot of food.

My husband and I went to Narcoossee's last week and specifically asked if there were any restrictions - as other posters have replied, we were told that you can't get any free "add-ons" but you can order any entree on the regular menu.... this includes the lobster and the surf and turf.
