Are there only so many spots?

A travel agent friend said there are only a limited number of hotel spots for free dining so even if you are booked, there's no guarantee of getting the offer. Is this true?

Your TA is correct. All promos that Disney offer only have so many rooms per resort. No one knows the exact number per resort since it may depends on how booked the resorts are. People booking ahead and hoping to change to the free dining (if and when offered) may get it at the resort they are booked for or may have to change resorts if all the rooms for the promo are gone.

Yes.. to the OP, your agent is right on the money. This is exactly why I strongly discourage pre-booking unless you intend on going anyway and your resort preference takes higher precedence than getting the Fall Promo (whatever it may be..)

Lots of folks don't believe it.. but it IS how it works. Rooms on any offer are limited and sometimes at any given resort.. they may in fact be NO rooms offered.. It really does depend on a large number of factors but how booked the resort shows is a key part of that.

For what it's worth --

We just ran in to this. We got the 20/30/40 pin, and tried to use it for YC. Very nice CM at CRO said that there were no rooms available at the rate at YC at the time we wanted to go (she said the resort had plenty of rooms available, just no more discounted rooms) so we're staying at BC instead.

Bummer, so even if you booked first - it doesn't matter. I guess you're almost better to wait till the last minute to book. Planning ahead will get you nowhere. Early bird doesn't get the worm any more. I guess Disney wants to attract new folks - the ones who have already booked are sold on WDW anyway.
