Are there ivories that can be tickled on a Disney Cruise?

Honest question - if a guy, or his daughter for that matter, wanted to play the piano while aboard in a casual sense, would that be something at all possible? I've searched a little online and can't see any real examples of this happening.

I can imagine that with Disney, with the onboard experience so tightly focused, that if a guy wanted to sit and have a little fun at one of the onboard pianos it wouldn't be THAT easy to simply walk up to one and start playing. Or is it? And if a guy wanted to perform the "Little April Showers" duet he's been practicing with his little girl, could that be a thing?

It's always been roped off on the cruises we went on when it wasn't being used by Cast Members.

From what I've seen, all the pianos onboard are closed/locked when not actually being used by CMs.

Anything is possible. Just talk with guest services on board and I am sure they could possibly set up a time for you to do this under their supervision.

DCL is pretty protective of public performances because passengers will likely assume that the performer is a CM. If a performing passenger isn’t up to DCL standards, it could reflect poorly on DCL. It is similar to not allowing adult attendees in the parks to dress up “too well” as a character as Disney doesn’t want them to be confused with CMs. A private lounge performance seems reasonable.

DD who has her BFA in music wanted to play the piano for her grandmother. DH talked to guest services and reserved a lounge with a piano for her. It was not in a public area.

They have private lounges? Are those just for CMs?

There's a family talent show, they will bring out a keyboard to play. My daughter took her music and played a Disney piece one year.

I believe OP is asking about a piano he can just "stop by" and play a little piece with/for his daughter. Not an actual performance.

My DS played a piano in Outlook on the Fantasy. It was empty at the time, so not a public performance. He just wanted to do some practice and piano wasn't roped off.

Oh ok, I didn't know it had a name. I was thinking it was a bar or something.
Outlook was originally designed to be the piano bar on the Fantasy. But it's difficult-to-find location killed that idea. It's now used for private functions, and non-denominational services on Sundays.

I was wondering why I’ve never seen it open! Reminds me of the ESPN Skybox from the early days of DCL.

There used to be a piano in the Walt Suites on the Magic and Wonder, but I don't know if they are still there.

Thanks everyone! Yes, my original intent is simply to play a bit of piano with my girl, with the added bonus of keeping her fingers in practice even on vacation (plus she loves an audience). Looks like the talent night might be the best venue for it; my wife is a professional singer too (with some Disney in her repertoire, natch) and would likely enjoy this more than karaoke night and if a more formal opportunity can't be arranged.

As for myself, I'm a professional improv comedian, but I'm not about to ask for some stage time (though I've done this at resorts in the past). I'll be content playing backup for the girls in my life. :)
