I forgot about that. I think I blocked it out because I am already booked on a different ship during the special.
If I’m not reading it wrong (then or now)— it’s simply a $250 discount for DVC members who book direct, right?

Right, so the DVC benefit is a credit worth maybe $1-2/pt used for the cruise? There was a 30% discount that everyone is eligible for. The DVC perk was an additional $250 onboard credit. It's all on the website.

I think the OP was asking if Disney discounted points bookings the way they discount cash bookings.
This is a great counterpoint. I mean the value is so bad the pricing would really have to skyrocket…but sometimes it does, especially around the holidays.I don't know if the points charts ever change after they're issued, even if prices go down. But they also don't change if prices go up - which historically is more likely with DCL.
I feel like it's a no. DCL offers discounted last minute sailings to fill the ships. Does DVC ever get discount point exchanges for those?

Based on my very limited research, seems like you're much better off point swapping through the site sponsor or their largest competitor. Would be delighted for someone to tell me that's wrong, and that you can actually get a better deal doing an exchange directly with Disney/DVC.
It would benefit everyone even Disney if it were easier and more reasonable. Hopefully DVD realizes this eventually. It depends on what you mean by deal. You will certainly spend fewer points if you go through a third-party broker. But in terms of the amount of friction in the process, an exchange through DVC is much easier.
