My recent favorites are: Tutto Italia
Le Ceiller
50's Prime Time Cafe
Biergarten

Of those, I think Le Ceiller was my favorite. The mushroom fillet was so tender, I could cut it with my fork. Tutto Italia was good too, but that feels like a meal that you should really take your time to enjoy. And I don't like to spend 2 hours at a meal while I'm at Disney. Biergarten has pretty good German food, and the Prime Time has good home cooking.

Over all of our years going, we have had only a few bad ones. We have been lucky to have mostly wonderful experiences. Maybe a few minor things here and there...but that happens.

Our favorites that have been consistent with good dining experiences are:

Narcoossees, Le Cellier, Artist Point, 50's Prime Time Cafe, and Teppan Edo (also over the years when it was Teppanyaki)

Those are just a few of our favorites.

I hope whatever places you decide on, that you will have a great experience! Unfortunately bad things do happen, but if there is some place you are interested in going to, but are afraid to because of negative comments, I would just go and try it for yourself.

Our family's faves are (we by no means have eaten everywhere, these are just the one's we've done and returned to more than once).
Ohana
Biergarten
Sci-Fi Drive-In
Chef Mickey's (for breakfast)

The only restuarant we've eaten at that we didn't like and won't return to is Boma. But it had nothing to do with the service or atmosphere, we just didn't really like the food. Many people rave about it though, so I think that it just depends on what you like.

On my recent trip all but one of our dining experiences were great. We especially liked Kona Cafe, Les Chefs de France, and Boma.

I also always enjoy Sci-Fi Dine In, Le Cellier and Crystal Palace.

My last trip was perfect- 6 nights, 6 great restaurant experiences. Great seats, got our seats fast, food was wonderful, wait-staff, character interactions. Plus, free dining picked up the tab :thumbsup2

Disney did a great job for us! Too many post come from people when something goes wrong. Not enough post from folks that don't experience any bumps in the road.

1st night- Norway Princess Meal- Akershus
2nd night- California Grill
3rd night- Poly- O'hana
4th night- Animal Kingdom- Jiko
5th night- Crystal Palace
6th night- Coral Reef

MY OTHER TWO TRIPS WERE VERY GOOD ALSO ....a 9.5 on the 1-10 scale.....IN 2007 and 2006.

We have never had a really bad meal at Disney!! Have a look in my food review if you want to see some pictures, but some of our favourites are 50's Prime Time, Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, and Raglan Road.

On our recent trip, we loved all of our TS meals. We ate at CRT for breakfast, CP for lunch, Maya Grill for dinner and Coral Reef for dinner. Great food, atmosphere and staff at all!

I am going in 12 days and have booked many character meals and a few non character meals. I think I've read everything that has been posted in the restaurant forum for months. What I try to keep in mind is that people are most likely to report bad experiences than good experiences.

Honestly..for your first trip..I would just look at the menus at allearsnet.com and find the places/foods that interest you and your family and go!
For every 100 Disney restaurants, you will find 100 disr's that LOVE it and 100disr's that HATE it.

In all of the gazillions of dining reviews that I have read over the years I have never seen one place that gets consistently bad/good reviews.

really think you have to remember the human tendency to report the bad...the "squeaky wheel" syndrome. Thousands & thousands will happily eat at that restaurant, enjoying every minute of it. But the one who didn't like it will tend to report it, with gory details. And that's what catches your eye. We're more apt to sit up & notice gory details instead of sweetness & light. Just the human condition...o.k., enough waxing philosophically.

We liked almost every restaurant we've tried, except Boma dinner. And that was just not to our taste at all. But there were plenty of people there with heaping plates, loving it.

Now, there's some we don't think were worth the cost. But the food was tasty, just too expensive for us.

Go with the expectation you'll enjoy yourself, and you probably will :thumbsup2

Just back yesterday from a MAGICal trip to WDW!! Weather was great, kids were not whiny, and the food was really good.

Our favoirte TS was definitely California Grill!! We had not been there before, but will certainly make it a MUST on future trips.

Our favorite counter service was Wolfgang Puck Exprss in DTD. We went back 3 times!!! Followed closely by Earl of Sandwich. We were staying at Saratoga Springs, so it was really convienent to get to DTD. By the way, the breakfast pizza at WPE was AWESOME!! So good!

Although we did not have a bad meal, I think our least favoirte was the Studio Catering Co. at Hollywood Studios.

Go with reasonable expectations. We generally like Le Cellier, but if I expect the best steak I've ever had in my life, it would be a very disappointing experience - I've had many much better steaks.

Understand why people like or dislike something - and try and get a feeling for when they last went. Brown Derby was HORRIBLE - FIFTEEN years ago when I went. I haven't been back, but it might be a lot better now.

Get a feel for the posters here if you are going to value their opinions. The difference in opinion between someone who considers themselves a food snob and gives a food critics opinion of California Grill is going to mean a lot if you have similar tastes - and very little if you think Olive Garden is great and who would EVER pay $100 for a bottle of wine.

Understand that the value of some places isn't in the food - its in the experience. Sci Fi - not great food - awesome experience.

Finally, since you aren't on the dining plan and are first timers - have a realistic idea of the value dining takes within a trip. I LOVE my sit down dinners, but its two hours out of my vacation day and a lot of planning. There are a lot of counter service places that are good and involve a lot less committment in terms of time and money.

This is exactly it. Also, as with any restaurant there are many variables in the meal you will be served. Who is the cook that night, the mood you are in, the mood of the server, the quality of the food received that day. None of this you can really control just like life it is what it is. Most posters once they have had a bad meal at one of the WDW restaurants will never go back because they are on limited time or budgets and don't want to risk either on something that may have left them (forgive the pun) with a bad taste in their mouth.

We actually have had delicious meals several times at Cinderella's Royal Table,
Biergarten and '50's Prime Time Cafe.

We've had many excellent experiences with Disney dining. Some of our favorites are Artist Point, California Grill, Kona, Boma, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Jiko and Shulas. You have to keep in mind that every chef and/or server can have an off night. With rare exception, we've always had exceptional experiences at the above places. Tastes also vary...so I'd take the dining opinions (good and bad) with a grain of salt and go with what you think your family will enjoy.

This will be our first time on the dining plan so I will get to try more TS this time but we like Sci-Fi, Chef Mickey's and HDDR.

But when I called to make ADR they told me the two most requested restaurants are CRT and Le Cellier. (both of which I will be going to this time!!

)

I've never had a bad experience at any of the 20+ TS restaurants we have eaten at. We are also very easy going...I think some people are upset way too easily when going out to eat. I think you can't go wrong anywhere really!

Check out my reviews in my siggy....only bad place I ate at was Holloywood and Vine like 2 years ago. Food was not that great.
