Check the links in my signature. One goes to the Collectors Board FAQ I wrote, the other goes to a page here on the DIS with pin trading tips.
If you want to wear only keepers on your lanyard, that's perfectly fine and there are no rules that say you can't. If someone asks if a pin is for trade, simply and politely tell the person that it's not for trade.
BTW, where in north GA are you? I live in Richmond, VA, now but I'm originally from Calhoun.
Thanks for the links and the welcome. I live in Oscarville (or Weinerville as my friends call it). It is in between Gainesville and Cumming on Lake Lanier.
Hi! You can trade with anyone you want to. However, I learned it is important to know what you are trading and what is being offered in exchange. For example, you don't want to trade a pin you purchased for $8 or $10 for a pin that sells for $6 (unless you really want that $6 pin -- but in that case, I'd just buy it -- JMO).
I tend to wear pins mostly for display, so I don't initiate trades very often. On my last trip I traded mostly with CMs, but did a few with other guests. One fellow who also stayed at WL the same time I was there got to know me fairly well. We did a number of trades and spent way too much time (and $$) at the Pin Cart in the lobby.
you can trade with anyone... Just that a CM has to ttrade as long as it is within the Parks trading guidelines... So when and you will see a group of people trading pins just walk up and ask if they would like to trade or if you can look at their pins... It is a great ice breaker...
