Are there any hotels without the open sink?

Or a hotel that has a curtain around the open sink area.

Having the open sink but closed shower really irks me. The first year at POFQ they had an open sink, second year at POFQ they had an open sink WITH a curtain, at AKL they have an open sink....I've yet to find any hotels with an enclosed sink.

Do you know of any?

Actually, looking at Expedia it looks like the Contemporary has some kind of weird bathroom layout. What is this?

I don't know about CSR, but POFQ has a curtain seperating the sink area from the bed area.

That's what I said in the first post silly lol! :rotfl:

At the Poly, the sinks are in the actual bathroom with the bathtub and toilet. CR does have a funky layout--the first room you walk into has the sink in the room with the tub, then there is a separate toilet area with a door. The door to the toilet area opens right into the middle of the sink/tub area.

I think some of the moderates have curtains at the sink, but I can't recall.

The DVC resorts 1 bedroom and larger have a sink outside the bathroom and another sink inside the bathroom with the shower. CBR has the curtain.

I think having the sink outside the shower room is preferred by families because 1 person can shower with privacy while another brushes their teeth or gets ready at the sink.

Also, the studios at OKW have the sink inside the bathroom. I remember this because this is a big issue with my parents (who are you, really?) and we laugh about how important this is to them. I remember having a studio at OKW and saying "Hey, look-even my parents would stay here!"

POR and CBR both now have the curtains. What do you find so annoying about the open sink.

Cool. So, the CBR, POFQ, POR, Cont, Poly, and OKW are all on the 'yes' list.

I don't know exactly why it bothers me, I guess I find the rooms a little cramped in general and I just don't like the idea of people being right next to me as I'm getting ready.

It would be better if there was at least a mirror in the toilet/shower room.

I can see why families who stay in 1 room would like that, but we always get connecting rooms because DS just will NOT fall asleep if there's anyone else in the room. :sad2:

How bout taking a shower curtain, a clothes line and some 3M command adhesive hooks. Then you can rig up a curtain.

POFQ does have curtains separating the main sleeping area with the bathroom. That makes it nice when you're trying to change clothes with other people in the room.

I also don't like having a sink in the bedroom! I much prefer it in the bathroom, with a second mirror in the bedroom. I just think it's more private and quiet than having it out in the bedroom. For instance, if DH is asleep I hate to get up and brush my teeth without a door to muffle the noise.

Our master bedroom at home has the sink in the bedroom, with the bath and toilet separate--so we use that bedroom as an exercise room. The bedroom we use has a completely separate bathroom (down a short hall, in fact) because we are less likely to wake each other up that way.

That's a good idea. I'll consider that if I can't find a room that works.

The curtains at French Quarter are indeed nice. They were an improvement between my 2 stays there.

Kimhelms99 - I stayed at the AKL on my last trip to WDW. I'm trying to avoid the open sink lol.

Yep. This is another reason I don't like it. Even though DS1 sleeps in the other room, DS2 is usually right next to me!

The Cont. layout is very nice. The first part of the bathroom has a double sink, tub/shower with large mirror over the sinks.
There is a separate door leading to the room with the tiolet and there is also a sink in there with a large mirror.
Out side the bathroom the large double door closet has mirrored doors, there is also a mirror over the other side of the bedroom.

I agree... I like a bathroom with the sink, shower, toilet, and mirror in one room with a door that shuts. Poly is the only one I know of that has this. It's really nice for night-time when our kids are sleeping. Also I like to get dressed and do my hair right there by the shower where it's nice and warm from the steam. Then I do my makeup out in the room while dh showers. It's also nice if you are traveling with other family or friends and sharing a room.

The Poly has the sink in the bathroom. I never liked the sink in the bedrooms either. Reminds me of a cheesey motel.

Nope to the Polynesian. They have two different layouts, one has the sink in the room, the other has it in the bathroom. Same thing with SoG.

On our last stay I was the last one to get cleaned up for the night. Of course the little ones were all asleep in bed and I felt like I had to get brush my teeth in the dark. Also, in the morning it felt odd jumping back and forth between the mirror and the "bathroom" to have a few minutes to get ready without waking anyone.
