Are there any haunted places near you?

Mothman!!! You have to tell us who that is!!!

Jeff, I visited a ghosthunting website and found a thread which discussed Plano haunts of all things! One of the posters mentioned a rusty bridge and strange area in Hoblitzelle Park which is off Alma and Legacy. The trouble is that Hoblitzelle Park is kind of big but I think I'll take a walk this afternoon! ;)

Other "haunted" places in Plano turn out to be private residences according to the posters but the old cemetary and Jailhouse Restaurant in Mckinney have been mentioned at times. Of course, Baccus Cemetary off of Legacy is notorious but very out in the open IMO.

Happy haunting! :teeth:

You have some good stories, especially for Halloween. I now believe my house is haunted. Ever since I was given my grandmother's wedding rings after her death, I think her spirit is residing in my house. The TV's go on all by themselves, the lights go on by themselves (and yes, once I actually saw the switch go from the down to the up position itself - that was a little freaky). In any case, I don't feel scared. I think she just wants to know her rings are in a good place. :D

Yup, I have the book..Ghosts of Charlottesville. Haven't seen any since we have been here though!

Yup - the library where I work is haunted! And Im on tonight until 8pm! Clarissa please be good.

You know, now that you mention it I had heard that the jailhouse resturant was haunted, but I figured that was a rumor (probably started by the owners) to get more interest generated about the place (which only opened a couple years ago).

Which grave yard in McKinney? There was one in our old neighborhood a few houses down. It's pretty strange because you'd see lot-house, lot-house, lot-gated graveyard, lot-house. I'll have to check it out.

I'd never heard the Hoblitzelle bridge deal though. Is there a story behind it, or did someone just say "I think it's haunted"?

Jeff, one of the so-called ghosthunters claimed that they made some odd photographs around the bridge. They didn't say anything about a story of any kind. I've never heard anything about this place either.

I've heard things about the big cemetary as you drive into McKinney the back way (I can't think of the name!) and also a smaller one on the Plano thread. Maybe the one you're talking about is the smaller one?

I forgot but someone also mentioned the Muncey Massacre site as being haunted. I found a link to a Genealogy site that mentions this massacre. There is supposed to be a marker at the junior college on Spring Creek. At least this is a nice way to learn some history! :) http://www.geocities.com/genfriendsghl/history/indians.htm

I forgot about the ghost in the store I used to work in as well....and I actually did see her. I had heard her described and I had definitely seen some strange things happen and a couple of months before I left, I finally saw her.

My best friends house that I spend the night at all the time is haunted. There's a little girl on the first floor, a woman in the bathroom, and a teenage boy, a teenage/early twenties girl in the side yard, a man walking around, a man in the back yard, cats everywhere, and other animals, a dog in my friends room as well as some guy who hung himself from the closet, another dog in her parents room, a man on these side steps, a man on this back patio, and a boy in the hallway. There have been things moving, the backyard smells of alcohal and the man runs at the back door when it's open and the light is off, and you KNOW he has a knife. That door has opened on its own, shaken as if someone hit it, the piano is known to play on it's own in plunking notes, that we think is the little girl. The lights in the entire down stairs are known to flicker at all hours, the tv turns on and off on its own. There are sounds of things being moved upstairs, like a trunk being pushed across the floor, when nothing has been moved. Footsteps in the hallway, tugging on your foot while your laying in my friends bed, someone falling down the side stairs, banging on the door to the patio when noone's in there, a face pushed against the glass by the side yard where the girl is....her house is over 100 years old, and has had mannny deaths I guess. o.o

My house has not people ghosts but animal ones, past pets. Sistine, my moms cat still watches over us, we'll see her out oof the corner of her eye and turn to see her but she's not there. same with the three rats we've had... :D I'm glad to have them here still.

Beth, I don't know about the civil war sites there in Vicksburg being haunted, but I'm pretty sure there are some "evil spirits" inhabitating the AmeriStar. . I've never been able to win a dime in that place!!!!

Willy...lol! I don't think the ones we have here in Greenville are any better.

When you say back way, do you mean coming into McKinney from the west, east, north or south?

You know, come to think of it, there's a LOT of cemetaries here. There's the large one off of 75, the large one off of highway 5, there's one a few hundred yards from our church, there was one on my block, I'm sure there's more I don't even know about, dude, it's like boneyard central. LOL.

I'd never heard about the Muncey Massacre, but I do remember that we would go walk around the river (& it also became a big party location), but I've never noticed anything supernatural. The walk down there on the otherhand... It was about a 300 yard hike from my street to the start of the creek & after about 50 yards, asphault with street lights turned into pitch-black dirt road covered with large trees - very Sleepy Hollowish. It wasn't a big deal to walk down the road during the day or drive down the road anytime of day, but walking alone in the dark was a tad eery.

Back in CA we lived in an apartment complex right next to a large cemetary for about a year. My sister & I could thrown a stone out of our window & it would land in the cemetary. Of course, being the mischievous big brother that I am, I took advantage of the situation. :teeth:

I live in New England. There's a thousand haunted places!

In the next town over, there's a cemetery where they say that sometimes people see a young woman in a blue nightgown wandering around. I've been by it and have personally never seen her.

The cemetary I'm talking about is real close to the old downtown area. We exit off of 75 before we get to Mckinney itself and stay on a highway that curves around and behind downtown McKinney. Is it Buckner Cemetary?

McKinney looks like it should be haunted everywhere IMO. :)

Our local paper had an article this am about the local haunts. The USS Hornet is docked in Alameda and has had numerous ghost sightings.
There is a pizza place two towns over (Pleasanton) that used to house a brothel on the second floor - apparently the madam is the ghost there.

My own house.. It's my late Grandma.. She scares the wits out of everyone else but we find her amusing UNTIL she starts hiding things or making black handprints on my newly painted ceilings.. Then I have to "yell" at her - which makes me feel foolish - yelling into thin air.. LOL

Planogirl, I think I know which one you're talking about, the one by the old DPS office. That's the one right off of highway 5. It's a pretty big lot.
