I have a few questions for those Disers who have relocated out of the country. I will be moving to Costa Rica in a year or so and I would love any tips that anyone has. It is hard to leave but now I am trying to figure out what to take and what to leave behind. I am thinking I'll take the DH (;) ), the dog and cat but other than that I am just not sure. Is it worth creating and sending everything down or just buy new when you get there:confused: I am soooooo confused!

I'm sorry. I am going to have to ignore this thread, because it makes me too sad. ;)

Check with Tiggerlover, I think. If I am not mistaken, they moved to Italy last summer, yes? Because her husband is stationed there.

But Sistah Deb you will be visiting me in paradise right? I could host a Dis meet in Costa Rica! Anyone else interested?:teeth:
Tiggerlover is in Italy now...I forgot. I hope she sees this.

As soon as my rooms are ready in the guest wing!! ;)

The irony of the timing of your note is incredible! I just moved from Northern California (as you can tell by my name) to Yokohama, Japan less than a month ago. I'll be here for 12-18 months for the first phase of the project I'm on, then I'll be moving to Russia for a few more years. I'm already planning my trip(s) to Disneyland Tokyo!

Ironically, the only other foreign country I've been in is Costa Rica! As far as what to take? Take anything that's American made that you really want/need. For example, I recall that at the local bakery, beautiful loaves of bread (made locally in Costa Rica) cost about 40 cents (as opposed to $4 in the US). However, when one of my friend's point and shoot camera broke, she went to buy a disposable one. $28 in Costa Rica! So anything that they have to import into the country will cost you moocho. Stuff that they make there is dirt cheap.

Anybody filled you in about the bathroom situation in Costa Rica yet?

PM me if you'd like to discuss a bit more off line! If not, best of luck on your adventure!

no!! i need to meet you before you move!! don't move yet!!  :(

Hi CALIFLADY  A PM is on the way. Thanks for the info and I have more questions to ask:) Where did you go in CR? Did ya like it?

Deb, your room will be ready and waiting with fresh flowers and chocolates on the pillow.

Now Von, we have at least a year to meet up before I move. I am sure we will finally get together:)
