Are there any discounts to use for a cruise?

:confused3 I just got my quote from Dreams. For 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children, two catagory 4 rooms, would be $16,642.91!!! I was shocked!!! That does not include air, but does include insurance and transfers. No time spent at Disney either!! We have done the 4 day Disney and 3 day cruise in 1999. I know the kids are older now, but I could not believe the cost would be so high!! We just can't afford that. Any suggestions?

I second your recommendation of All Seasons Travel and Keith in particular. He is just wonderful.

If you are concerned about price, why not book 2 cat 6's instead of cat 4's?

It all depends on what time of year you are traveling. We are going Feb 25 of 2006 and have 2 catagory 4 rooms: 4 adults and 2 children 4 & 11. our whot cost is $8,500. We tried Dreams and it was $1,500 more than Costco who I chose to go with. They have been great and will watch for any discounts that come out between now and the trip. Costco was $35 to join over the net and worth the cost. They are down at WDW by the SuperWalmat so I will use the card for more than this.

I would really reccomend Costco

Good Luck
Judy

Thanks for all your replys!! I have e-mailesd about 2 category 6's, but Sue Ellen, the girl helping me has the flu so it may be awhile before I hear back. Meantime, I will check with the other suggestions. I am really afraid since that did not even include air fare it is just more then we can spend!! We may have to go with another cruise line and just be glad we had the one earlier cruise with Disney!! Is there any difference in the cost of the western vs. the eastern? We were thinking of the eastern, but could do either. I was looking at August 2006.

your looking at the "on season" and its WAY more expensive that time of the year...not sure when the "off season" starts but look then. someone els should beable to fill you in on that

Try pricing the trip with www.cruisequick.com . Seasonal rate chages also make a huge difference. The category 4 room is only marginally larger than the 6, but the price is a lot larger!

We're cruising August 19, 2006 (thats the "special western" which stops twice at Castaway Cay and at Costa Maya) and right off the bat I can see where you could save $2000 on the cabins. The Cat 4's are $1000 more than the Cat 6's. So since you have 2 cabins, that'd be a savings of $2000. right there. Most Cat 6's hold 4 people, so between the 2 cabins you'd have plenty of room since your group is 7 people.

Hope this helps, and let us know what happens! :)

P.S. The above figures are from All Seasons Travel's web site www.allseastravel.com

I think it may be the time of year you're looking at but more importantly, the fact that you're booking two category 4s. You may want to look at other combinations of stateroom categories. Like a 6 and an 11 or two 8 or 9s, etc.

Transfers are very expensive. You could save a significant amount of money by renting a car. Budget rents cars one way and you can pick up the car at the airport. When you drop the car off at Cocoa, they take you to the port. Budget in Cocoa is located only 3 blocks past the Radisson at the Port--very convenient. They also pick you up at the port to bring you Back to Budget to get another car. BIG money saver. :cheer2:

I agree. We got a compact MCO to Port (one day rental) for about $22. The return Port to MCO for one day compact for about $32. Both from Budget -- the service at Port Canaveral was incredible! They were so nice and friendly and we saved some money!

I just booked 2 category 9 connecting cabins (oceanview with a window) for 5/27/06 7nt western carribean cruise (me,DH, dd6, dd9,ds4 and the grandparents) for 6345.77 at mouseearvacations.com. I checked just about everywhere and this blew everyone out of the water by about 2500 to 3000 dollars. (checked about 12 different travel agencies who ranged from 8900 to 9400 for this same trip!!!!!!!) They have a few select dates and cabins with deeply discounted rates. Apparently the buy up large amount of cabins on select cruises when they first become available so they are able to sell the early booking rates for longer than most. If you are planning to travel in August of this year you may be out of luck on discounts but I did notice that they had 8/19/06 discount for the western carribean 7 night for category 11,10,9 and 6 cabins. They were very quick to email me a quote, and quick to answer any questions via phone or email and booking was very easy. I hope this helps.

By the way I got almost the same quote from smallworldvacations.com (17,005.45) but mine was for category 4 connecting to a category 3 1 bedroom suite. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
After I finished laughing I proceeded to find rates that were not laughable. Personally I would rather take the elevator up to the deck to enjoy the sun and air and save that 10,000 for other things. A verandah is not that important to me when I can see the same ocean out my window or up on deck!!!! :sunny:

Sounds like you'll be saving quite a bit of cash!
Our first two cruises were in Category 5s. The last two were Cat. 8 & Cat. 9 and we loved the window view. It is worth the money savings!

NeedAWDWTrip, We have about decided to just do WDW instaed of the cruise. I just put in for a quote for an August cruise this year (gave them 3 different dates) for 2 catagory 6 cabins from mouseearvacations. We really do like the verandas. Duaghter-in-law will not take the kids out of school as Grandaughter is working for a schlorship in basketball and has to also keep her grades up. I am just so surprised the 2006 are already filling because Disney is so expensive. My husband and I are doing a Royal Carribbean cruise in April this year and if this quote doesn't work out, we will just go to the world longer or place with another cruise line. Thanks for all your help!!! Linda
