Are the Wing Rms at the Contemporary that bad?

We've stayed in both the North and South wings. In the South wing, the elevator has Goofy's voice in it and you can hear the Magic Kingdom railroad train whistle. In the North wing, you are closer to the playground and the Magic Kingdom, so the walk to the magic kingdom is shorter than the tower or south wing. There is a laundry in both wings on the second floor. Each wing in three stories high. We love the wings.

In the north wing, Mickey himself is the elevator announcer, if I remember right!

We returned from our stay in the North Wing on Tuesday. I really don't think I'd ever want to stay in the tower. We had a 1st floor room overlooking bay lake. There was a patio and it was very secluded. Our kids liked playing in the sand on Bay Lake beach. I didn't think the walk to the tower was bad at all. Since we were on the first floor we didn't have to mess with the wing elevator, and there's an entrance directly into the Food Court/arcade area by the North Wing. I'd say it was a 2 minute walk from our room. You can also take the side door to the covered walkway that leads to the tower. When you enter the doors, the escalator to the monorail is right there.

If we went out the side door across the hall from our room, the playground area was right there, and the pool was just a little beyond that. The best part was the walk to MK. We walked every time. It was only 10 minutes and a very nice walk.

The room was so big. We loved having the daybed for our oldest son. The bathroom was also very nice, and the closet was big.

We stayed in the south wing last October over Halloween. It probably had the worst view that you could have gotten as it looked out onto the parking lot and is the farthest building away from MK. We still liked it very, very much. I am going to say it was about a 3-4 minute walk to the tower and 10-15 minutes walk to MK.

The room was huge and very bright. Nice bathroom area, too. We would definitely stay in the wings again!

Eyore4Ever149: I have stayed at both the POFQ and CR. You will not be disappointed in CR after POFQ. POFQ is much smaller and easier to navigate, but if you get a close room at CR, there will be little difference in walking distance! You are going to love the size of the CR rooms! And, the location! We love the monorail, so being able to take it to MK and Epcot make it one of our fav resorts! Enjoy! The California Grill is wonderful; just hope you don't have a long wait as we did. Go early if you can!

Dh and I stayed in a north wing room a few years ago. We were on the 2nd floor in the room closest to the Tower (7288) and loved it. It was literally a 30-second walk to the food court in the main building -- couldn't have been more convenient. Granted, it was a parking lot view, but that didn't bother us at all, and there were actually trees and shrubs right outside the window that obscured the parking lot.

Be aware, though, that there's no balcony on this type of room. I sort of wished we were on the first floor so we could've had a patio. :)

Its funny- I havn't heard a single person say they stayed in the SOuth Wing.....

We stayed in South Wing 4years ago, it is the closest sleeping accomadations you will get next to MK. When we left the parks after fireworks, walking the path was 5 minutes to our room, 10 tops. As we left and got on the path several nights I watched as everyone fought for the ferry, monrail and buses.

The path alone was worth the stay, except we like to try differnent resorts.

Have Fun

Does either or both wings have connecting rooms? Our entire family of 15 will take up 4 rooms and we'd really like to have two sets of connecting rooms to accomodate naps and bedtimes for the little ones.

TIA

DH and I loved the wings at CR for our Honeymoon. I would not mind staying there again.

Actually, that's the north wing nearest the MK.

We just stayed in the North Wing, and it does have connecting rooms. DiznEeyore is right. The North Wing is the closes to the MK and the walking path to get there.
