Are the rooms at HIFS clean?

We are leaving in two weeks to stay at HIFS and I am getting a little nervous. Everyone seems to either LOVE her HATE this place.

I know that it is packed with kids but we have 3 of our own and that's one of the reasons we chose it! I have also learned from these boards that the food is horrible. So we plan to eat elsewhere except for breakfast -for free I'm sure it will be fine.

So my big concern now is are the rooms clean. I can't stand a dirty/dingy place. That would really bug me.

Any comments would be appreciated!

The rooms were very clean when we were there last year! We will be back in about 3 weeks. Can't wait!!!

This is a great family hotel! It very clean and I didn't think the food was that bad. It just good average food. We are going back to HIFS next month and plan on eating dinner at the restaurant at least 2x. It saves money with the kids eating free!!

Don't be nervous about this hotel. Your gonna have a great time!

Oh, I just noticed your counter! Maybe we will be neighbors! :D

We will be there from 4/23 through 4/29. We have 3 DD (11, 5,5). How about you?

Threegirls,

We will be there 4/28-5/5. It will be me, DH, DS4.5, DS16 and his girlfriend. This has been an "interesting" trip to plan with the 2 teens coming. Last year when we stayed at HIFS it was me, my mom and DS3.5 (at the time) My son loved it. He thought his own themed room was so cool. Your younger girls will really like this hotel. The pool is great for the little ones. I think your DD11 will like it too. I'm not sure how my DS16 is going to like it. They have a pretty nice arcade so that should keep him happy. You will have to post a trip report when you get back to let us know how you like it.

We've stayed there 4 times and each time it was very clean!

The dinner buffet is not the best. I would recommend eating elsewhere. The free breakfast isn't as bad as some have made it out to be. There is plenty to choose from and a quick and easy way to start the day!

Have a great trip!

I agree. The room was very clean and the cleaning ladies did a fine job every day. The rest of the restaurant was clean as well.
The breakfast is absolutely fine, though you may get tired of it after 5 days or so. What I recommend is not having the EXACT same thing every day. There is plenty to choose from, so one day you could have cereal and fruit, one day bacon and eggs, one day waffles, etc. Planning dinners elsewhere is a good idea, though. There are plenty of restaurants of all types and prices within easy driving distance. We always do one or two character meals (dinner) also.
DOn't worry, yu will have a great time!

We stayed the very busy Saturday night before Labor Day, and the room was spotless. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet very much. Try to get to breakfast before 8:00 and you will be fine!

Thanks for all the positive repsonses. I am really getting excited!

I know the kids will have a great time - they are excited about the bunk beds and I know they will love the pool.

Threegirls:

I'm here right now and the rooms are spotless. Amongst the cleanest and best-kept rooms I've ever experienced and I've experienced plenty across the country and around the globe.

In regards to the room, the only advice I'd offer (that I wish someone had given me before we packed) is to bring 1/2 the amount of clothing that you'd planned and invest in a few hours for one laundry at the halfway point in your trip. There's not enough drawer / closet space for a family of your size / ages for a week IMO.

Have fun!

BJ

Threegirls,
Yes, we will be there the same time as you. Our dates at 4/17 to 4/26. It is DH and me, DD12,DS10 and DM68. The hotel is great . My mom is coming with us and there's plenty of room for everyone!
Can't wait!

Just wanted to let you know that they are renovating the HIFS to Nikolodean sp? I had booked for this September and found out the kid pool will be closed. I have two sets of twins 3yo and 7yo so that was important to me. I am sure it will be open when you go. I would call and ask what might be closed when you go.

Also, I changed my mind and went with FW resort because of the shuttle service. The last one leaves HIFS at 12:30 pm and the next one to return is at 5 pm. I wanted to be able to come back with my little ones if needed but not for that long! If you are willing to drive and park that would not be a problem.

Otherwise it sounds like a wonderful hotel!!

Carrie,
I was concerned about the pool being closed but it won't close until after the adult pool done (they are making it into a family pool with slides).

We will have a car so the shuttle bus is not an issue. I did notice that the schedule was very limiting - so I would agree if you were counting on using it than I would change plans.

I can't imagine two sets of twins!!! Our twins and older DD keep us busy full time!

Have a great trip.

Threegirls,

How old are your twins?! I have a set of identical boys (will be 8 in Sept) and fraternal boy/girl who will be 4 in November! I hoping that they will enjoy Disney even being almost 4. I have waited for the last set to be old enough to get into it! I am sure that you know that sometimes 2 is nice because they do play together (and fight) so it takes less entertaining on my part! I think having 1 at a time would be harder! Except the first year! that is very very hard!! No sleep!

I think the HIFS will be a great stay! I was swaying both ways. I called them directly and they did not tell me that they were changing the adult pool into a family pool! That would be nice to know!! ha! I would not have changed if the shuttle was more frequent. I think they should do at least one more during the middle of the day.

do you all have a link to the hotels web site??

You are talking about the Holiday Inn Family Suits right...

we stayed at the WL last time - but we will have a new baby this time and I am thinking of staying off site and a little nervous about it so I am happy to read all your positive comments :)

Carrie,
We have fraternal girls who are 5 1/2 and our older daughter is 11 1/2. The twins definetely have a love/hate relationship. I do get lazy with the play dates because they play well together most of the time. The age difference between them and older DD is hard. She was old enough to remember be an only child!!!

We took DD when she was 4 and she loved it! She still remembers parts of it. So I think your kids are at a good age!

I think we will have a great time at HIFS. This board really helped with knowing what to expect when we get there. Like the OK food and poor shuttle service. I think all the other plusses will more than make up for it. We will be there 7 nights and having 2 bedrooms will be a big plus!! I may have the girls get their hair braided at the spa so I don't have to deal with it for a few days - ha!!
