are the prices up at your bj's club?

I haven't gone in about 2 months. I went in yesterday to grab some things and stuff has gone up.

Some things just a few cents but others quite a bit. Our membership fee is much cheaper than the national average (website says $45 for membership and $80 for the rewards membership, my club is $30 and $65) but I wonder if we make up for it in higher prices.

Sugar is now $13.xx. I have been buying it at $11 for a long time. Cheese sticks are up by .50, hotdogs have gone up twice in the last year so I stopped buying them there.

Peanut butter is crazy expensive now. The clothes aren't such a hot deal anymore either. With coupons some things are still a deal but I'm finding less and less to justify the membership fee.

Anyone else notice the trend at their bj's?

It depends on where you live. I am actually a manager at our local BJ's and while I see some increase it isn't too bad (nothing more then what the local grocery stores seem to be doing).

A local club to me has lower prices then we do because they have a Costco neighboring them, forcing competitive pricing. We don't price match with our own clubs so it forces some people to travel to get the better deal at another BJ's. Could that be the same for your area?

We have Sam's across the street and a Costco in the 20 mile vacinity. I'm sure that is why the membership fee is cheaper.

The grocery stores I haven't seen much increase because they are falling over themselves in loss leader sales trying to grab business. Maybe bj's just isn't eating as much of the general grocery increases.

I have just about every store you can think of all in the same 5-10 mile radius so that keeps things competitive.

My BJ's membership price is the regular price...but we also get the gold membership which more than pays for itself with the 2% back. I do the same with Costco.

But I agree with you, prices keep going up. I just chalked it up to food prices in general going up. There are still things at BJ's that I buy for way less than anywhere else, so I continue to shop there. Pediasure at $36./24 bottles has been a lifesaver for me cost wise. I also like the smaller cuts of meat (ie. the thin pork chops) that Costco doesn't carry. Last summer I bought a bunch of sports skirts and tops that were really reasonably priced. Then there are things they've discontinued that annoys me to death...ie. the large jar of artichoke hearts is now packed in water instead of oil (plus it's smaller than is used to be for the same price). Usually, what I can't find at BJ's I can get at Costco though.

That is probably why the fee is lower. Our rewards membership just went up today, it was $35, now it is $45 upgrade fee....still worth it to many people *myself included since I make back around $200 yearly*

BJ's is up sales wise all around. I am amazed everyday at how busy we are. Many have mentioned that its because they can stock up and use multiple coupons on 1 item. So the deals are to be had, just make sure you are registered on the web site and print up the coupons and check your local paper for coupons to pair with the items. I got Febreeze Noticeables plug-ins for $.25 recently! Slim Fast snack bars (they taste like butterfingers!) for FREE (they actually owed me a penny) because we marked them down to $3.99 with a $4.00 BJ's coupon.

Yes even with the slight increase cheese sticks are still worth it, so are chicken nuggets and frozen meatballs, qtips and biscotti. I still buy some meat but my store has a very small meat and produce department so the deals are there just harder to find.

I do :). I went yesterday and spent $181 after sales, I had $25 in coupons and used both bjs and manufacturer coupons. I am sending off for the unilever rebate too so that will give me $40 back in gift cards.

I never buy health and beauty, cleaning stuff and cereal is too expensive (except oatmeal, that is an awesome price) because free or overage at cvs and the grocery store is better to me than a 75 gallon shampoo bottle :lmao: I guess I'm just cheap. I would rather get a little free with coupons than buy a lot at once.

Maybe it just seemed like a lot at once because I haven't gone in awhile. I guess I buy more than I thought though now listing it out :rotfl:

I go to BJs about once a week. When there yesterday I renewed my membership for $45.

I have a small nephew so I buy her pampers. He is in a smaller size, I like the count is 216 per box. The monthly coupon book always has a $5 coupon so it is $39.49.

My family loves skinny cow ice cream. I see it in Shaws or Stop and Shop for $4-$5 per 6 count. For $8.99 I got a 14 count.

I also buy fruit and potatoes there. My DD loves the frozen shrimp. Milk is dirt cheap at $2.15 per gallon. I did notice Milk pricing going up recently.

DH loves their brand of shampoo/conditioner. He likes the pump top so a shampoo is on one side of the tub and the conditioner is on the other side.

Getting back to the original question, I have noticed small increases but nothing major. My grocery stores have not had any good prices lately so I am not losing out going to BJs.
