And does it vary by resort, if so we are staying at POR Riverside. I know kids can tolerate any temp pool water, but not me! :)

All the pools are heated and shouldn't vary. I believe they are all to be 82 degrees. Now in summer with the heat they may naturally be warmer than that.

I never understood the concept of a heated pool, sure the water temp is at 82, but when its cooler outside the pool, you do have to get out eventually. And no matter how fast i've run - it just never seems fast enough. LOL

I agree that the biggest determining factor will be the temperature of the air. I went swimming at CBR in January once and while the pool was heated to a decent temperature, the experience was more or less torturous for me because of how cold my body parts were that were exposed to the air. Children may have felt differently! I am not comfortable swimming unless temperatures are solidly in the 80s. I've tried swimming in the 70s and it isn't really warm enough for me to enjoy the experience.

FWIW we've been to WDW in early January, late February, March, October and November and in all cases we had pleasant days at the pool.

People always say they are 82 degrees but it sure doesn't feel that way to me !! If the air temps are in the high 70's or better you should be fine for swimming.

When we were there during a cold January 2014 (temps in the 40s/50s a couple days) and we swam. The pool was still more than warm enough to swim. Although, as others mentioned if you put your head under then your face was cold after, and the walk back to the room was quite cold. However, I would do it again. They did close the pools at sundown most the week though, as the lows reached the 30s.

The POR's Magnolia Bend quiet pools always seem warmer to me than other Disney Resort pools. So I think you'll be ok there. I've never been in the feature pool there.

I think some of this is dependent on where you're from and what "chilly" means to you.

I wear a light sweater if it's going to be less than 80 outside so you're not going to find my butt in a pool this time of year.

We went one year in Feb... temp was in the 30's & 40's NO WAY was the pool anywhere near 82, if it was people would have been in it.

The pools are definitely warm enough to swim. Just depends on your tolerance level for the colder air when you get out. My son and I have swam when it was in the low 40s. My wife, no way! We were prepared with thick robes and sweat pants to put on. But while in the pool we were very comfortable.

:). Go on a royal Caribbean cruise. Their pools are not heated. Then you'll see the difference. :)

In '15 I noticed that pools were closed entirely in the low 40s high 30s.

If the pool was open and there were brave souls they would be in it. The problem with swimming in a day that cold is that any part that gets wet then comes out of the water is cold. It makes the warm swim less enjoyable when the hairs at the nape of the neck are freezing. :)

Agreed.

One more thing, hang out in the side of the pool nearest the bar, the water always seems to be warmer at that end.

I am sure hoping you meant its warmer because of the alcohol and not the other way:rotfl2:

We cruised once - first and last time. And not even pool related. Plus for me at least, nothing relaxing about a salt water pool - when its hot, the salt water just seems to do nothing to help. :)

Wow, we love to cruise, and all the pools feel great to us. Most have the desalinated salt water that is popular now in home pools. I think the new pool at the Poly has that kind of water.
At WDW we always swim when we are there, no matter what time of year.

We were at AKL this past weekend, the pool was great.
