Are the Passholder rates a good deal?

I am 99.9% sure we are going to keep our current reservation. Now I might still look from time to time on the AP website or the other room only deal, but we are still happy with what we got and considering how hard it was to get this reservation we don't want to switch for the 4th time, since we had two other reservations made before.

I would keep checking (book it if you find it online so you're sure to have it) you never know. But it seems the more specific the room type becomes, it seems the less of each type are included in an offer. You also might want to just check the GP discount as well. There are different allotments of rooms to each offer (or so I've been told by quite a few CMs) We actually changed our Nov res. 3 times as well! First we had the 30% PIN (also didn't include the 27th), then the bounceback 35% off ( no 27th) and now the 35% AP discount that includes the 27th of Nov. I hope that's it for us!

Even if the Deluxe Room becomes available we would need to call and switch our reservation.

We can book it online, however our Bouceback reservation was made over the phone from our room at the Boardwalk and there is no way to switch our reservations online, so we would need to call.

Yes, I know you can't switch online, but we booked online to make sure we got the reservation (the lines were pretty busy when the AP discount came out) plus we had 2 reservations so we each booked a new one online and called and cancelled. Now with not that many rooms avail, I was afraid to wait even though it was just CBR! Many other resorts are not avail from Nov 27 to Dec 4 for whatever reason. We got the CC refunded in a couple days. (had to pay the deposit online to book)

Well should we decide to switch we will worry about it at that time, so for now it's not an issue.

I have found recently that you really have to do the math between the AP discounts and the GP and BB discounts. For example, I booked a December stay in a Standard View room at YC on a 40% bounceback. The AP rate is 42%, but they don't have any Standard View, only Water View which is more expensive. So even though the percentage is higher, the rate is higher because of the difference in room category. I didn't switch. You also have to watch for the weekend nights. I booked 10 nights at BCV for January because the discounted rate was consistent for the entire period, even though MLK weekend was right in the middle of my trip. Looking at BC, YC, or BWI, the rate would have been much higher over the weekend.

Whether to change or not is always a personal decision, and it's not the same decision for everyone. Sometimes it's a good idea to change to a more expensive room type if it gives you the space or location that you really want. Sometimes it's better to stick with what you have and spend the extra money on other things, like signature meals or tours and such.

I would agree with the PP who said if you see the room you want online, grab it and then cancel the other one by phone. Sometimes if you wait even a few minutes, that availability is gone.

Yes, the room type/resort is becoming less avail with AP discounts (plus some dates/resorts don't include weekends!) We had 2 Woods view booked at WL for our Feb stay. No standards in the Pin when we booked in Nov. 20009. When the AP rates came out 45%off, the AP rate wasn't avail for the Woods or Standard, so we kept the 40% off at Woods! I checked daily for either so we could get the discount and never were the types in the mix! We were going Feb 5-12 so no holiday etc.

In 2009 for a stay at ASMu we had 1 room booked for a $500 GC promo (yes $500 in a value!) It was a great offer. About 1 month prior to leaving my son decided he wanted to go, well I checked every day for an additional room and nothing. About 10 days before leaving -a whole bunch of Preferred rooms released for the promo. We booked the Preferred for him and kept our standard. Well, when we got there we were given 2 preferred rooms and connecting! We also rec'd the 2 $500 GCs, one we used for food with TIW, the other to upgrade my son's one day pass to an AP! That was one of the best deals we ever got, I think better than FD since we had $1000 for anything we wanted! we only paid about 900 each for the room and 1 day but got back 500 (plus that was 6 not the minimum 5 nights )

CR Fan, just keep checking the AP site from time to time, especially as the trip draws nearer. A deluxe room might open up and you may be able to apply the bounceback rate to it (or at least get the AP rate). You might also want to check rack rates for that time period as well. If that category doesn't show up at full price, then obviously it is sold out. But sometimes it is there at full price, but they aren't willing to discount it until the very end.

Well for fun I checked our dates with no discounts and the Deluxe Room was still sold out.
