Does anyone know if the water at BB and TL is heated? We are going Dec 8 to 17 and at first I wasnt going to even consider the waterparks BUT then we watched the planning DVD last night and I see that you can snorkel at Typhoon lagoon so now I am thinkg about it. Also, has anyone ever gone in Dec to either waterpark? Thanks in advance...

We have mostly gone in January, and always go to the waterparks, usually for 1/2 a day. The water temps have always been fine. The funny/unfortunate part of your question is that they DO NOT heat the shark reef at Typhoon Lagoon where they have the snorkeling - it is definitely brisk, but worth it (last time we did it twice in a row :thumbsup2).

Have a great trip!

We went to BB in Dec 2007, got there at 10 and stayed till close. It was by far both my kids favorite day of our vacation. There was little to no wait on the water slides. Typhoon Lagoon was closed for refurb at the time.

We have used the water parks in December, January and February. It is a great day - no crowds and the water is warm. Only thing to be aware of is that Disney usually closes the waterparks for refurb during the winter months - so you may not have a choice of which one to go to.

My frustration is (and before you say it I know - suck it up buttercup - alternately "Oh Princess, when you get to visit DW at CHRISTMAS it is ALWAYS the same waterpark that is closed??? ) but really it is - why can't they rotate? Anyhow this not about me :tinker: and yes, we can't match disneygirl as we haven't done the parks in Feb but us Canucks are made of strong stuff, we have always done the waterparks no matter what month. One visit we were at CBR and the lifeguards were in parkas and our kids were happily splashing about. Without knowing anything about us they said "You all from Canada?"

You know you are Canadian when.....that is too funny about the lifeguards asking you if you are from Canada!

I just looked at the hour schedule and sure enough, TL is scheduled for refurb while we are there! Oh well, we are also going in May for my cousin's wedding so maybe I will get to snorkel then, it is really the main reason I wanted to go to TL-the kids and DH really want to go anyway as we have never been to the waterparks so we will see-thanks for all your replies!

We go every year in March for 2 weeks (usually 2nd and 3rd week of March). EVERY YEAR TL is closed for refurb and we always do the plus option pass so we do BB. Finally one year we stayed 2.5 weeks and our last 3 days TL opened and we got to do it. TL is by far my favourite over BB - but kids and DH say they like BB better.

We grabbed some beach chairs right in front of the newest TL ride (the roller coaster one) and there was a big 0 entry pool and washrooms and food/beverage right there so this was the best place to sit for the day!

The Disney parks are great but for R & R, you can't beat those water parks! We love them.

I might add that in 2006 (??) we went the last week of Feb and it wasn't even shorts weather let alone swim weather - never got in a pool! Frost in the mornings and we almost froze watching Fantasmic (I had seen the forecast and packed mittens and hats but you needed wintercoats that night).

I am so with you on roatation! For the past 5 years at Christmas I have so wanted to do Typhoon Lagoon. Being from Canada, I have no desire to step into a blizzard!!!!:rotfl: This year, we are in Florida until January 5th. Typhoon Lagoon opens on the 4th of January. Come hell or high water I am doing Typhoon lagoon!!!!:rotfl:

I went Dec 07 with my family. We arrived Dec 23 and left Jan 2, and we had only 2-4 days of REALLY nice weather. It was unusually cold while we were there...and Im used to cold winters lol.

Point is, on those 2-4 days of nice weather, we hit up the water parks because they are so much fun. I would def. suggest going. The water isn't too cold on the slides and pools. As for the snorkeling, well, that water is really cold, but it has to be for the safety of the fish/sharks, but it is so much fun and so interesting that it is def. worth the chilly water. Just dive in - but not really.

Every single time we have gone down there TL has been closed. I have zero desire to go to BB coming from Canada:goodvibes. Finally this trip TL is OPEN and we finally get to go woohoooo!:yay:
