Are the crowds in mid June better than, as bad as or worse than in the DL Holidays?

Are the crowds in mid June...

  • Better/lighter than the last 2 weeks of DL Holidays

  • As bad as/just as busy as the last 2 weeks of DL Holidays

  • Worse than the last 2 weeks of DL Holidays

  • Say at Paradise Pier for more EE/MM options

  • Stay offsite to be closer to cheaper/better offsite dining

Specifically I'm wanting to compare the last few days before Christmas through the New Year when the decor comes down. If any of you know, I'd appreciate your input. I'm having a real tough time deciding between PP and Fairfield Inn. PP is winning only because I like the idea of having multiple EE/MM available if the parks are going to be insanely busy. (Sorry I just can't get used to callingit Magic Mornings. Early Entry makes so much more sense.)
If it's not that busy, I'd just as soon stay at FI. One concern is that we like eating at Mimi's and grabbing a quick bite at McD's or Millie's as well. PP is clear on the other side away from our favorite off site restaurants. We don't normally do EE/MM, just 'cause I tend to sleep in,and the last couple of years I ended up getting really sick while there so I needed the rest. I don't know which to stay at...I'm so torn...Any input is appreciated.

You can vote for more than one option in the poll above so you can vote regarding how busy it is and where I should stay...And btw, Hojos is sold out during the dates I'll be there or I would have booked there. :)

I only voted for staying onsite since I don't know the answer to your question on crowds but am subscribing so I can find out!

Just my opinion... but I'd say the week between Christmas and New Years Day is the busiest of the year, followed by spring break and maybe even some weeks in mid to late October in recent years (used to be my favorite time to go... not anymore) then summer dates.
Crowded in mid June? Yes, but certainly still manageable.

It sounds to me like you'd really prefer FI overall. You can still accomplish a lot by being at the gates at opening, even without the benefit of MM.

FWIW
My DS still loves to tell anyone who will listen about the time we stayed at GC and I threw a pop tart at his head and told him to move it or we were going to miss MM. Honestly I was just trying to get him in gear, and I gently tossed the pop tart in his direction; I didn't aim at his head at all... :rolleyes1 But going to the parks without a full breakfast was like child abuse to him. :rotfl: And after a few mornings of 7am openings, there was no way we were all going to get up in time for a full breakfast and still be to the gates by MM opening. For my family trying to take advantage of every MM opportunity can be a stressor rather than a benefit. ;)

Thanks so much for your input. We haven't really done the park commando style in several years, and to be honest I really don't want to have to do that on this next trip. I like to take my time and enjoy things without feeling an urgent need to run to the next attraction. That was my biggest fear and reason for wanting to stay at PP -- so I can get MM and not have to worry about freaking over wait times, lines, etc. Your post does help to put my mind at ease...We too have found that after being in the parks all day and night, the last thing we wanted to do was wake our butts up and rush to MM and even worse if you get sick whle there. We haven't used MM in years...We don't take breaks anymore, but especially don't do breaks if the park closes earlier than midnight. When we're planning on being there, it'll close early for Grad night on some days. I was kind of thinking that staying on site might make that a little easier, but maybe not!
I hope other locals or people who have gone in the summer and winter will respond so I and others who are interested can compare.

I will be going in late June (after Father's day) and I expect heavy crowds, but I think that the holiday season (particularly right around Christmas) is busier than average summer crowds, because all visitors are consolidated into this week to two week period. There are more visitors in the summer, but they fan out over the course of a few months. Just be sure not to go over the 4th of July holiday!

Thanks for the reply Sherwin. I'm actually planning on mid June so I am really hopeful that it won't be crazy busy like in the last 2 weeks of Holidays...
I hope other locals or people who've gone during the summer would post or take the poll...:)

I've gone for the 2 days after xmas in 2007 and my SIL was there for new years 2009. Per DLR CM's the time between Xmas and NY is the BUSIEST!!! In fact on both trips they restricted park entrance. On my trip, they would NOT sell 1 day passes to DL, only to DCA. So unless you had hopper passes or bought hopper passes at the gate, you weren't getting into DL. On my SIL's trip, they weren't even letting people with hopper passes in at one point because they were at capacity. I have NEVER heard of this happening in the summer months.

I will be there from June 13 thru the 20th. And I'm hoping it's not EXTREMELY busy! Lets keep our fingers crossed!

:yay: It looks like the vote for June not being as busy as the last 2 weeks of Holidays is winning! It's at 91% for less busy! I hope it stays that way!:dance3:
