I was looking at these swimdresses at NewportNews.com as I'd like a little more coverage at the bottom, but these don't really look very swimable. :confused3 Are swimdressses just for lounging by the pool?

I don't know about swimming but some of those are beautiful!! If I hear they are for swimming, I am getting one!

Yes they're for swimming, I own a couple myself and LOVE them. I feel so comfy in them, I couldn't imagine not wearing one now.

You can swim in them but when you get out of the pool they stick to your legs. Blech! I hate that feeling.:scared:

Yea but just for a second or two. When I get out of the pool, while I'm on the final step, I just grab the skirt and wring it out. No big whup.

Love the swimsuits with the skirts as they hide things that shouldn't be seen anymore :)

One problem I have ran into with swim dress and swim skirts was them floating up while swimming.

I think it depends on how you define swimming. Just hanging out in the pool, floating around, occasionally stroking over to the other side? Then yes, they work fine.

They really don't work well for serious speed or endurance swimming; all that extra fabric really takes on water and drags you down, it's like swimming with a set of weights on. Also, the skirt can mess up your stroke if your hands get tangled in it.

Thanks for your post. I found one of them that I really liked and just ordered it. I used promotion code 500 for 20% off and shipping code L27 for free shipping. Great deal! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the code! :dance3: Ordering one too.

Thanks for everyone's imput. :thumbsup2

The problem with swimsuit catalogs and websites like this particular one is that those models are all - what - maybe a size zero? Of COURSE they look good in those swim dresses. Put one on me and I bet I would like like a hippo in a tutu. :rotfl:

They are cute though.

Yeah but then it goes sluuuuuurrrrrppppp and sticks to your leg and you pull it off and it goes whap! and sticks again!:rotfl:

You and me both!:rotfl: Those straight fitted ones would make me look like a sausage with a head!:lmao:

You took the words right out of my mouth, really. Why can't they use real women as models for these dresses? I was going to say elephant in tutu but I guess it is just a matter of semantics. :rotfl:

These are nice..Thank goodness the one I love isn't available in my size..;)

Note: Saying this because you used it as an example not I:.
But what a pretty hippo that would be. :lmao:

Anyway, I thought those size zero models have kind of skanky expressions & poses. :p
 Am I allowed to say that?

OMG that's what I do! I love swim dresses! I got some really nice ones at Macy's (they don't look like "old lady" swimdresses at all). My kids think it's so funny when I'm wringing out my swimsuit!
