Hiya All.

Just recovering from an operation so I'm trawling the posts like never before.:surfweb:

We are a family of six travelling to the WDW this coming October for three weeks and are staying for the first time in one of the Cabins at Fort Wilderness.

In the past we have stayed at AKL and are really looking forward to having extra space this time round.

To make our trip that little bit better is there a preferred area to request when it comes to the Cabins, i have already reserved a Golf Buggie for the three weeks incase we are allocated a Cabin miles away from anywhere.

Your experiences would be most appreciated, especially as our children are still rather young been, DS7, DS6, DS3 and DD1:laundy:

Thanks guys

Fairytale-

Hope you have a very quick recovery!!!

In answer to your question.... view the map below..

The cabin loops are 2100 thru 2800. They are located nearest to check-in, but furthest from Meadow Area & Trails End/Settlement area. You will want the golf cart for getting around FtW on your own time schedule, vs. the busses. There are two cabins in the 100 loop, but you would probably need to call the Front Desk at FtW to find out how to reserve those & what the cost is.

IIRC, all the cabins are basically the same inside. Some are handicapped accessible, some are not.

I hope this helps.

We always stayed in the 2400 loop, before we bought our tt. We did like the location, but ended up getting a golf cart because it was a lot for us to walk with 4 kids! The 2500 and 2600 loop look good too--closer to the transportation and pool. It depends on what your family is looking for. Have a great trip, and get well soon!

Since you've already reserved a cart.......no, their is no reason that I have notice that would make one cabin loop better than another...in fact, if youre not careful and drive through the wrong loop....you wont even be able to tell. they are all exactly alike, and the loops are all setup pretty much the same...if I had to pick SOMETHING, I guess I'd request 2500 or 2600 because they are closest to the laundry and pool...but with a golf cart...that wont make a difference at all.

The last time we stayed in a cabin we were in the 2800 loop near the entrance/exit. We could see the bus stop from our bedroom. I do recall some people saying this was the best loop? We didn't find it neither good nor bad. Any reason why it's considered best?

We'd like something a little quieter this time. I notice there are some cabins with a stream running behind them in the 2300 & 2500 loops.

Can you see the stream from the cabin? Any reviews on either of those 2 loops?

We'll have a golf cart so getting around isn't such an issue.

All three times we have been on the 2600 loop. We always wanted to try something different but always get the same loop. Funny huh? Anyways we like it. It is walking distance to the pool but far from the other fun stuff. We rent a golf cart too.

Have fun.

We just checked out of the 2400 loop yesterday. :sad1: We've already booked for December and we'll request 2100 this time for 2 reasons:

1. proximity to the Meadows and to both the orange and purple bus routes (we didn't rent a cart and don't plan to the next time either)
2. it has mostly pine trees like the 2400.

#2 sounds strange until you take the drought into account. On many of the loops, it's mainly cypress trees (at least I think those are cypress) with ferns as the undergrowth. Both the trees and the ferns aren't making it very well through the drought, so you get a not-so-pretty view of dead ferns and tree trunks. The loops populated with pine trees are still tranquil and pretty, though.

We just got back from the Fort last week. We stayed in loop 2100 (2142 to be exact) We were right across from the bus stop on the other side of the road. The busses could be noisy at 6:30 am but otherwise we really liked the location. It wasn't far from the big pool or the trading post. We rented a golf cart which was a blast! I think I would stay in the same loop next year just across from where we were (On the inner loop) Have fun!
