I'm completely new to Skyauction.com and I read their tutorial thoroughly. I'm looking a 2BR villas, maybe Vistana. I showed DH, who was skeptical.

Does booking through this website put you in villas that are in older sections, not refurbished, you know, a little less desirable accommodations than if you paid alot more money? Especially if you win a bid for $200. for the week (+ taxes, etc.)

What has you're experience been?

Thanks alot:wave2:

I doubt it. I would think it's based on availabilty. When I won Cypress point I had a newer room.

We used SkyAuction for Orange Lake recently. I requested the newest "North Village" and was placed there without any problem. The villas was so beautiful...spacious, sparkling clean and very bright.

We are scheduled to stay at Silver Lake Resort on May 9 through a skyauction win and I hope this holds true there as well.

No complaints here about SkyAuction. It has made my last 2 trips to Disney actually possible because I won both places for under $275 a week including all taxes and fees. And these are for 2 bedroom villas that are over 1,000 square feet!!! Great deals.

Good luck.

did you get the newer section at silver lake resort - silver points

just wondering what their accomodations are like....floors etc...

don't worry - they put the exchangers (their members of RCI) in the older places - they want you to be back to use skyauction again - so you will get a nice place.

so far no one (to my knowledge) has filed a suit against RCI - see these are not owned or operated by RCI - they are timeshare and their owners trade into RCI to go to other timeshares.

RCI works great if you plan far in advance - couple of years.

but for last minute there is none availability - and this is because of skyauction and other places where RCI rents these timeshares. It makes them money and it is surpose to be lowering the membership fees......they say it would be empty if they did not do this.

if you are government or military there is a much better site - where you can get an even better deal.

Spiceycat--I am wondering where you got this information? I have stayed at Vistana both as an exchange thru RCI and through Sky Auction. I gotta tell ya, both the forms I took with me for proof of registration looked pretty darn similar. In fact, the first time I used Sky Auction, that was what put my mind at ease, the fact that the document looked just like an RCI exchange form. Just trying to figure out if things have changed since I did this last.

The information I had was that a big part of where you are placed at many resorts is due to the day you check in on. That was the case for sure for our first stay at Vistana, another resort in Orlando as well as one we stayed at in the Carribean for our honeymoon.

disneymom3 - i recently won my first disney skyauction and will be staying at grand villas in october. we have a friday check-in; do you think that is a good or bad thing as far as room assignment? should i still try to request higher floor, non-smoking or is that not allowed with skyauction? thank you!

the one I received from RCI was bonded in red - the skyauction was white. Yours might be different?

We have used skyauction several times and have nothing but good things to say about them.

We were placed in a new unit at Orange Lake once and in an older unit another time...It was fine either way. They were clean and well kept. It was much better than a motel...I just figured that even in the older unit, we had a ton of space, a full kitchen and washer/dryer and dishwasher...Sure beats a motel room...

I went into it with the mentality that if it was better than a motel for the same price...It was good enough.
We paid a $51 bid, $15 skyauction fee and the $195 cleaning and taxes for a week. The total was $261 all fees and taxes included. That makes it $37.28 a day. I can't get a BAD motel for this price.

I was a skeptic at first as well but as long as you do your research, everything should be fine.

After our research, we have decided that Westgate is not a place for us but have about 6 we would try in a heartbeat. Good luck and happy bidding.:wave2:

lorilori--It's not a matter of the day giving you a good or bad villa, it's that some of the time share resorts have certain sections that are set for that specific days check in. Because most timeshares do not have maid service during the week, I would imagine that this systems makes it much easier for the housekeeping staff. They stay in one section cleaning and getting it ready for the new guests. Never stayed at Grand Villas, but if it is Cypress Pointe Grand villas you are referring to, they get many positive reviews on here.

disneymom3 - thanks so much for the reply. it definitely makes sense for them to do it that way. yes, we're staying at cypress pointe grand villas which i kept chose after reading all the positive reviews here. these boards are truly a wonderful source for my obsessive research!
