Are Royal Court Tea Gifts Customizable?

I am considering the Royal Court Tea for my DD8, however she does not really play with dolls. She would much rather swap out the doll for the Duffy Bear but keep the other girl items like jewelry box, etc. I have searched through all of the Royal Court posts and don't see any mention of anyone doing this, so I'm thinking it might not be possible. Does anyone know?

I attended Royal Court Tea in Dec. I didn't see anyone customize it but I want to do the same as you. Perhaps we need to call DCL. They will make more money if they allow this so repeat customers can get different toys.

I did call and received a very vague answer. I honestly don't think she knew if it was possible or not. Let me know if you have better luck.

I was also thinking another solution would be to exchange the doll in the shop. While I wouldn't have a receipt and they wouldn't give me a refund, we would simply want to select other merchandise.

I don't think you can return the doll she is not in a box and has a Royal tea sash sewn on her.

The doll is not sold in the stores, as the above poster mentioned she is customized for the Royal Tea. The jewellery box, however, IS sold in the stores (not that that helps you lol). I very much doubt they would consider swapping out the doll for a bear or other stuffy, considering this is a tea for princesses and not bears ;-) The one thing you do have control over is the cupcake your child will get. She will get to choose between 4 princesses and you call down to guest services to let them know which one she would like on her cupcake. I guess that's not really exciting but just thought I'd mention it :thumbsup2

Thank you so much. I did not know you could customize the cupcake. The reason I asked about the bear is because it is listed as part of the boy package for the tea party.

Actually, little boys who attend the Tea Party receive the Duffy bear, little girls receive the doll. So OP is only asking to swap one "girl" gift for a "boy" gift, both appropriate gifts at the same event.

OP -- I don't have an answer but suggest you stop by Guest Services sometime before the Tea early in the cruise. Make your request. Then again when you arrive at the Tea, ask if it's possible. They may be able to work with you once onboard.

Enjoy your cruise!

You know there was one little boy who attended our tea but I didn't look to see what he received instead of the doll (and it didn't occur to me to look over at their table, they were across the room from ours). So if boys are getting the bear then I see NO reason why, if you call down to guest services, they cannot swap out the doll for a bear for your daughter! :flower1:

Please post back if you find out. I wish they'd switch the doll out for a different princess every 6 months to a year. My daughter would love to do the Royal Court Tea again, but we don't really need another Cinderella doll. It would be nice to have an alternative for repeat customers.

I definitely will, although I'm not sure I'll book if I don't have a guarantee.

Did anyone find out about the switch between the Duffy Bear and the Cinderella doll being possible?
We have booked the Royal Tea Party for our next cruise on the Fantasy next July and I know that my daughter will be very happy to receive the doll... however she is very much into stuffed animals and she absolutely loves Duffy and dreams about getting one.

For what you are spending it’s a completely reasonable request. Not all girls play with dolls, and some boys do! Switching these things should be as simple as marking a meal/cupcake preference. Especially if you request in advance.

I am sure they just have a box of each in the back and could swap it without issue - it would be crazy for them to only stock x number princess dolls and y number bears per cruise based on rsvps.

Somehow I see this getting out of hand quickly! Just like everything else Disney, asking for changes almost always equals a cost increase for everyone else.

I didn’t know that you can make the choice either. Good to know. However, who is the fourth princess if there are only 3 princesses doing the show? I don’t want my DDs choosing one princess and then found out her choice is not in the show!

I also wish if they can somehow change up the princesses on different ship as well. Our goal is to try out every ship eventually, and if our daughters are still in that age range, they will want to do the tea every time, especially if we plan the cruises around their BIRTHDAYs. It will be more appealing if the princesses are different on each ship, like the show are varied on different ship. For example, Magic can have Cinderella, Belle and Rapunzel do it, Wonder can have Cinderella, Tiana and Ariel do it, Dream can have Cinderella, Belle and snowwhite, Fantasy can have Cinderella, Aurora and Jasmine. That would be awesome!
