Are room requests still honored - Hilton Head preference

We will be going to HH in 3 weeks for the 1st time. Should I make a special request for a particular area of the resort? Does MS still honor these requests? Or does it depend on your time of arrival at the resort.

Our home resort is OKW & we always request the main pool area & have always seemed to get it.

Opinions on room locations for HH appreciated. We're in a 2 bedroom & a studio.

They do the best they can. Be aware, though, that HH is usually absolutely FULL during this time of year. Getting what you want will not only depend on those checking in, but also very greatly depend on who is checking OUT. If the location/room you wanted has someone in it that has been there for several days and isn't leaving for several more, there is no way for the poor CM to give you the room.

We were at HH just about a month ago. I know it was 100% at capacity as we had to waitlist just to get 4 nights together (and I requested ANY 4 nites in June). The last one didn't come through until 3 weeks out. Anyway, the day after we checked in I walked into the main lodge for some literature and watched as some really obnoxious guest just absolutely reamed out a CM for not giving him the room he wanted. This guy was loud, sarcastic and all of it in front of his 2 young boys (what were they learning there - to pick on the help?). The CM was as mild and patient as she could be explaining that requests were not guaranteed. She should have got a medal!

Anyway, go ahead and ask, as they really do try. But don't shoot the messenger if you don't get everything you want.

We have made requests for rooms at HH twice during June and July and received our requests both times. I know we were very lucky to get this both times and let the CM know how happy we were that it could be done.

We know, going in, that there's a very real chance our requests might not be met. Not a huge deal to us, but so nice when they can do it. Last time, when our room wasn't ready, the CM gave us a card and said "I'm not doing this" ;) and wrote our room number on the back of the card. We were practically jumping for joy right there at the desk. :bounce:

Mikesmom--- How terrible for someone to act that way with a CM. They are all so sweet, especially at HH. I wonder if they expect them to kick another guest out for them?

Either that, or put in a whole new villa for them!

As for the original question, a lot of your answer will depend on whether you need the two rooms to be close to one another. If so, you will have to be in one of the buildings with a GV or the main lodge. There are no studios anywhere else.

Just remember that the resort is small and it's an easy walk to either the pool or the main building from anywhere. In our many stays there (have lost track, but I'd guess it's over 30?), we haven't had a room yet that hasn't had a good location!

Just had to emphasize this-CM's at HH are absolutely wonderful! In case any of you CMs from Hilton Head are reading this board-you're great!

I wish that the DVC would change the Member Buy Back program to buying back the points of the horrible DVC members that complain about everything. I know the points would be re-sold.

Anyway, Last time we did not get our request for a marsh view and we were put in the main building. I love it there. After 6-7 years of going twice a year, it was our first stay in the lodge. I love the under parking. no hot car. oops--The lodge is a terrible request, too far to walk to the pool, noisy, dirty, bad veiws of the other buildings....etc...etc..;)
