I don't know about you, but the pop up situation on our internet is getting out of hand! Is there any magical solution to this problem?
It is only on our home PC; my system at work never seems to carry them. Is there something you can do?

I would have to agree. I have McAfee, which blocks most popups, but I still seem to be getting some & they seem to be increasing & are so darn annoying.:(

Get the google toolbar. Its free, does not contain spyware, allows you to search without having to go to google first and it does a great job bloicking pop ups and pop unders. It places an extra toolbar at the top of your browser that has a place to enter searches and tells you how many pop ups it has blocked (mine has blocked 295 pop ups in the last 2 weeks).

Heres a link to where you can download it. Its a quick download and easy to install:

I don't deal with them since my internet service at home blocks them and I have a pop up blocker at work...:teeth:

Oh my yes. I got one from AOL the other day. The actually added a shortcut icon to my computer screen and they added a link in my favorited menu. (At work)

We have AOL at home too. I really HATE AOL but my dh doesn't want to loose his email addresses. (I never use the address from our provider, I always use another source. That way I'm not "tied".)

and I am running 2 ad blockers..I was especially having problems on ebay with pop ups..someone suggested that I might have spyware running somewhere..I downloaded spybot and adaware..and sure enough..I had tons of those programs running..deleted all of them..and the pop ups have just about stopped!

Is SPAM getting worse too? I swear, I quit responding to take my email off their list because I ended up getting more. Now I am blocking some, but these people must have hundreds of addresses. Once they find they are blocked, they use another. My block list is full at 250. I don't know what to do.

I second the Google toolbar- it works great to block site pop-ups. We were also having a huge problem with spyware installed on our computer that would give us pop ups that the toolbar didn't block (because they weren't coming from a website, but from the spyware installed on our comp). Spybot worked great to get rid of these- haven't had a pop-up since!
