Are personal tumblers allowed to refill drinks??

When there was a stomach bug on our Fantasy sailing you could not get the drinks yourself, but the CM would give them out. Several CMs took people’s mugs and refilled them directly at the station. They were careful to avoid contact between cup and spout. I was surprised though… but it didn’t bother me that much considering that most refillable mugs have a lid and that’s what has contact with your mouth.
The reason why they did, this was not because of potential contact with the dispender , but want to reduce touch points with peoples fingers( button touching ) Same thing with the Buffet you can’t touch your own tongs.

Happened to us once too, and I noticed that a lot of the doors they could prop open they did to avoid people touching door buttons too

I know Disney likes to use a deft hand with people who don't follow the rules, but in eight sailings (and I hit the soda stations a lot), I do not think I have ever seen a CM member enforce the "fresh cup" rule - e.g., call people out when they use their own personal cup directly on the dispenser.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting that lack of enforcement makes it OK to ignore the rules. Just that this seems more like an "honor system" rule than anything that carries a consequence for non-compliance.

Other than contracting Covid or noro, I suppose.

I really don’t understand the issue with pouring straight into your refillable mug as long of course as the rim doesn’t touch the machine which most I’ve seen don’t, huge point in having a reusable cup is to cut down on unnecessary waste. Like previously mentioned I’d be more concerned with all the hands touching the machine than someone filling straight into their cup that doesn’t even touch the drink machine

It’s just common sense if your cup doesn’t touch the machine there’s no harm.
It's not so much the actual touching, but there is the splash-back when the liquid is dispensing.

Of course the CMs won't say anything, they're not supposed to put any negativity out there.

Again, the splash back when dispensing into a cup can be an issue.

Every time I read the thread’s title, I chuckle.

I suppose if you can afford to bring your personal tumbler - and they are willing - they can get you a refill.

It takes a little coordination, but I saw one man tear a hole in the bottom of the new paper cup, turning it into a make-shift funnel. He then filled his personal tumbler through the funnel.

He made it look easy…but I have a good understanding of my own klutzy nature, so I never tried.

I’d be much less concerned about “splash back” from someone’s personal mug than all the gross hands touching things like the drink dispensers and buffet tongs.

To be fair, they did crack down on hand-washing at Cabanas in the age of Covid. They weren’t negative about it; just insistent.

I think that a lot of people are overreacting to this "refill" thing. How many visit a fast-food restaurant or gas station each week and buy a fountain drink? Who all really worries about this?

I guess the point of this thread is that DCL cares, ostensibly enough to make both a rule and placards to remind people of the rule.

Or fill the paper cup and put it in your tumbler….
