Are people in your area friendly?

It is very friendly here. The only exception would be on the roads. People seem to take on a different personality when they get behind the wheel of a car. Then it is every person for themselves.

Well, The Villages is advertised as "Florida's friendliest hometown" and it lives up to it quite well. We've been here over eight months and love it. The one catch is it's an "active adult community," which means at least one person in each household must be 55+ with no full-time residents under 19.

Yeah, I've read about how friendly things are over at The Villages! ;)

From Martin County south through Palm Beach county into Broward and Miami-Dade, they may as well rename the state New York South. THAT in and of itself tells you something about the attitudes in S Florida :smooth:

:rotfl:

There might be a few grumps around, but we keep them tied up.

Hey, friendly is friendly... but the doctors here say the recent statements in the news is more fiction than fact. Still, a really friendly place. :thumbsup2

Very friendly folks here.

RitaZ and Grinninghost I'm glad you have heard of some good experiences here in Kansas. What prompted my question was something I witnessed the other day. I saw a person in an ECV trying to cross a busy crosswalk struggling with a load of groceries. By the time I turned the corner and parked my car to give her a hand, two other people had already stopped to help. :goodvibes

By the way, I'm not here to brag. There are jerks here just like everywhere.
And Rita the traffic here is not so bad because there really isn't anywhere here a whole lot of people want to go at the same time.

We are now in the suburbs of Boston, and IMHO, in our particular town at least people are just awful... that's being kind on my part... When I worked downtown I found people to also be quite rude as well :confused3

It's funny you should ask, but unless I know somebody I feel terribly awkward if they are chatty with me... I think it just takes me by surprise, or, more likely shock.... I'm shy by nature though... although in more friendlier areas friendly people don't bother me all that much... I agree that in our area, people are more likely to back up if you are chatty with them LOL...

We moved from Southern California to Central Forida and were amazed by how much friendlier people are here.

Evil Queen - you need to leave Southern FL and move a few miles up the road to Central FL!!

Though my family is from Tenn., I was born in Central Florida. Dade City. I like central Florida, but don't get that way enough. Hmmmm, might be time for a quick weekend trip. :goodvibes

I second the earlier post that KY is a very friendly state. We moved from Ohio over 2 years ago and it is totally different here. Things change once you cross the Ohio River southbound. Neighbors watch out for each other, churches are more tight knit. It's really hard to explain.

Ohioans kept more to themselves and the Cleveland area just seemed downright rude.

Very true in my part of Florida, too!

I grew up in the Miami area and that has become very unfriendly. I am not comfortable there anymore--I don't get a good feel for what's safe and what isn't.

I did a three-month internship in San Antonio in the mid-90s and found it to be pretty friendly, especially considering the size of the city.

Not really. Just being honest! I live in So Calif. suburbia - need I say more?

I think most people in my area are nice and very friendly. It's one of the things I really like about living in MN :)

The people here are unfriendly :sad2: Then again, the nice people here are still hangin' in there ;)
