Are My Twinn Dolls worth the $$ or are they creepy?

I have 3 DDs, only one of which is still young enough to ask for dolls. She is turning 3 at the end of Sept, and I have been looking at a few types of "better" dolls for her. I have purchased My Disney Girls, and have been looking at American Girl and My Twinn. I was thinking that the My Twinn is great, as it would look like her, but I've never seen one in person. I've bid on a few used ones, but they will not look like my daughter unless I buy a new one (for about 129). I would hate to get one only to find a) it doesn't look like my daughter, 2) it looks so much like my daughter it becomes creepy, c) my daughter beats the poop out of it, as she's hard on some of her toys, 3) she doesn't like it, 4) We now have to spend a zillion dollars, so it can be dressed. Are these dolls worth the $$, or should I go for the American Girl, or even a Target Our Generation (have one already put away in the attic)? Are the My Twinns really realistic? Is there a more realistic doll I can get that she can play with? Is there any way to get a discount on these dolls?

I had a few (I collect dolls) before I got into Lee Middleton. They are really cute and well made. I like them better than American Girl because the My Twinn dolls can wear some real baby clothes. I love Lee Middleton though. Have you seen them? You can go to www.leemiddleton.com You can usually find them on ebay very reasonable.

We got our girls My Twinn dolls one year for Christmas, and they very much looked like our girls. The problem with them (aside from their price tag!!) is that the dolls are bigger than American Girls and the My Generation dolls. Therefore, you have to get the special clothes and accessories for them. Additionally, when my girls would go over to a friend's house to play, their dolls couldn't be changed into anything else. The stopped playing with them after awhile.

As far as the wear of them, my youngest daughter's doll's head was loose when we got it. The company went out of business shortly thereafter, so we could never get it fixed.

I wasn't impressed with the dolls at all. We did buy the girls the American Girls, and they LOVE them! There is SO much offered with them, and my girls still love playing with them two years later.
