Are most 3-day cruisers first timers?

Just curious, and couldn't quickly figure out a poll for this, so I thought I would just ask. I have the assumption, perhaps incorrect, that the majority of those on a three-day cruise are first-time cruisers.

Am I way off base? We are taking our first three-day cruise, but it is our fourth DCL cruise. We thought that we might be unusual, or maybe there are more repeat cruisers (especially Florida residents who can get some great last-minute rates) than we thought.

My husband and I were talking about this, and were just wondering. We are not crazy about Nassau and probably will stay onboard most of that day and trying to figure out if more will stay or go to that particular port.

We are taking our first cruise on 5-5-05. It is a 3 day cruise. As far as Nassau, we will probably get of the ship for a short while. Maybe walk down by the straw market and check out some shops. Then we will probably come back to the ship for the rest of the day.

Our first time to cruise was Dec 9 Wonder 3 night. We did this cause we didn't know what to expect. Now I know that we don't get sea sick and that we love DCL! I am planning to do a 4 night Wonder maybe this coming Feb that is if we don't do Mexico or Bahamas or WDW/Universal. Now, that we have experience the cruise, I think I would rather do the 4 than the 3. 4 nights will give us enough time to relax and enjoy the ship. When we were on 3 night Wonder, I felt rushed. Enjoy your cruise!

We almost always do the three-day, and I'd say it's about half and half, based on people we talk to throughout the cruise. We always stay on board in Nassau, and the crowd is pretty minimal.

Well, duh me. I should have just asked you in the first place! Thanks. :flower:

No, we have cruise twice before. It is just a short break and a surprise for DH

4 out of our 6 Disney Cruises have been 3 day cruises.

The other 2 were 4 day Cruises.

The 3 day cruises fit better with our schedules and are easier to fit in.

I personally think many, many people try the 3 day to get their "feet wet". I first noticed the lack of folks at the terminal when it opened. We are used to the 7 day when people are at the terminal first thing. On the recent 3 day the terminal did not get a boarding line until after 11:00 am!!! We literally with standing with one other family for a good half hour before anyone esle got on the line. I also really noticed it onboard when there was no line for spa ressies until 5 minutes before the spa opened the first day. On a 7 day people would be lined up 45 minutes before!!!

I also noticed it at CC when there was absolutely no line to get off the ship. On every 7 day we have been on with DCL people are lined up the stairwells for a long while until they start to let people off.

And again at the CC return cruiser party, where there were far less people than at the 7 day return cruiser party.

I think first timer's who do not know about this board do not rush to anything as they do not know what they should be rushing for...it was definately a much calmer atmosphere onboard!!!

WE took the 4 day to start with just to make sure we wouldn't be seasick the whole time...but I would never take another one, it was to short! Now its the 7 day or nothing for us! Its to much trouble to get all the way to Florida just for a 4 day cruise. The time we did do the 4 day cruise we did 10 days before it at Disney so it stretched it out some!

We took a 3 night on our first cruise for the simple reason that none of our family (DW, DH, DS & DD) have sailed before and did not know what to expect. We figured if we were bored (Ha! Ha!) or sea sick (which did not happen) or if the kids did not like it(kids, what kids? We never saw them) then at least it would only be for a few nights. Needless to say, we loved it and now are preparing for our second 7 night.
