Subject pretty much says it all, I'd love to find a restaurant that serves them. I know the blue bayou in DL does but there is no corresponding restaurant in WDW. Still, is there a place I can get this delicious southern masterpiece, there is no hope of me ever finding one where I live.

Isn't that the same thing as a croque monsieur? If so then they have a really good one at Chef de France. For lunch they have a french menu that includes their onion soup which is really good and cheesy even for those like me who don't like onion, croque monsier sandwich with salad and creme brulee. It's for a set price and is really good.

It's actually quite a bit different. It's basically a meat (ham/turkey) and cheese sandwich, battered and deep fried, then sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with jam. It's DELICIOUS!!!!

Its a Louisana specialty, I actually know one chef who works at a restaraunt here from New Orleans who says he'll make it but I don't want to hassle him to go get ingredients etc.

Its basically just a sandwich, but its sooooo good, its usually deep fried so its not the most healthy thing, and has tons of delicious cheese, but it is sometimes pan fried.

Old Key west, omg! I"ll have to check it out, thank you. Its definately a favorite at the Blue Bayou.

Many years ago, we had our first Monte Cristo sandwich at Disneyworld. I believe it was at the restaurant when we first entered the park... now it is Tony's. It was so good, ham, turkey and cheese - like a donut - deep fried and served with like a raspberry sauce! I'm not sure if they serve it anywhere now. Maybe at the Plaza restaurant.

Sadly, the thing you seek is best found at the Blue Bayou Restaurant at DLR.
Very yummy treat.

I haven't seen them at WDW, but Bennigans (chain restaurant) does have them. There is one north of MCO airport (corner of Semoran Blvd and TG Lee Blvd) and I think there might be one in Kissimmee as well as a couple other locations around Orlando.

You're good! Yep, I found it on their menu online. And there is one in Lake buena vista right next to Vistana resort. I went there with my Mom once when she wanted to meet up with my aunt coming over from Tampa. It's a pretty good rest. Not sure I would go out of my way but if you are craving a monte cristo..............?

I have two restaurants up here in south central NY that make them. I love them but they definitely aren't the healthiest!

I love the first half of them, but after that it's a little too much grease. And the way I feel for hours afterward...

I agree. But last year at Disneyland my husband and I split a Monte Cristo and a cold salmon salad. So good. This was at Cafe Orleans which we liked even better than Blue Bayou.

We liked it so much that I think we returned.

stephen11, you're right about that restaurant. I think it was called Town Square Cafe. We enjoyed several meals there but never did work up the courage to try Monte Cristos way back then.

CaliforniaDreaming, it's so nice to see you on the boards.:goodvibes
