Are kids' scooters allowed in the parks?

My son is 2 years old and can be incredibly slow on foot. Fortunately, he has mastered his scooter  and can now keep up with us adults. My question is whether Disney allow scooters in the parks? I would assume not, but I thought I would ask just in case. Any ideas about other Disney areas - Downtown Disney, resorts? Many thanks.

Kids scooters are not allowed.

Have you thought about a stroller? Two is pretty young to plan on walking.

We would have that too as a back up, but he doesn't really use it that much these days - he likes to walk or 'scoot'!

Yes, but can he walk 3+ miles in one day and not get tired/cranky? I would think at that age a stroller would be a must for disney. Also, it is totally unsafe for a 2 year old to ride a scooter in disney, the crowds are just too big. He would get trampled,and/or someone would trip over him.

Definately not allowed - I can't find the link right now but the FAQ section on the official WDW website lists "what can't be brought into the parks".

Amoung the "no" are scooters, skates, skateboards and shoes with wheels.

I'm picturing my ollie and kickflip and grab jumping eleven year old skater with a board at WDW. Yeah, he can keep his board under control, but that still doesn't mean you don't want to be anywhere near him while he's riding.

Which is why the rules are there. Your one little kid with a scooter might be safe. When my kids were that age, they didn't scoot any faster than I walked. A hundred eight to fourteen year olds in the park with boards and scooters is an accident waiting to happen.

(Oh, and just a word of warning, a two year old who masters a scooter is someone who his mother does not want to watch at the skate park in ten years when its "he's going to break his neck!")

Just get the stroller. Doesn't matter what your son does normally...he is going to be totally wiped out down there. Plus it gives you a good place to put your backpacks for a few minutes and give your shoulders a rest.

I just can't imagine a bunch of scooters in that place. "Hey, look, it's Mickey Mouse" ...head whips around....****crash!!!!******

Then you have a lawsuit.

LOL I'm sorry, I mean no disrespect, but that made me laugh out loud. I'm trying to picture hundreds of 2-4 year olds on scooters at Disney. Oh man..someone get me a glass of whine..no, make that a bottle!!

I did see some kids with those shoes with wheels at Epcot a few weeks ago..they were much older. Didn't know they weren't allowed, but sure makes sense!

JuJu...."a glass of whine" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
where's the tag fairy when ya need her?

We are still bring a stroller for my 5 year old! Definitely bring a stroller. We wear podometers at WDW at typically walk over 9 miles a day! No 2 year old will keep up with that! DD will now walk with us but the stroller comes in mighty handy when she's tired. We bring it and park it in a general area and then just move it when we leave that area (we don't take it ride to ride). Plus the biggest bonus of the stroller...somewhere to throw all your stuff when you are going on rides!!!

None of my kids were ever very happy in strollers, but Disney is a whole new ball game! The 8 and 10 year old were fighting for the second seat next to the 4 year old in the rented double!!

Heck , I would have happily climbed in there if I didn't fear getting stuck!

This post is making me giggle. I think I have a case of the sillies today b/c I'm just picturing a bunch of 2 year olds racing around, knocking over Cinderella, Mickey, etc.

:lmao:

Thanks everyone for your advice - a stroller it is! And a special thank you to Mom2Ben2 for the tip about the buggy board - I think that's a great idea.
