Are [Insert group] days something to worry about?

I read the thread about "is gay days something to worry about?"...

I'm simply making the point that indecent acts go on everyday, not just by homosexuals. I think it's rude and innappropriate for ANYONE, straight or gay, to be making out or grabbing eachother in public. I see alot worse things from teenagers and people my age.

If you see two men holding hands, it won't send your life into a tailspin.

It's all about respect people. Respect others by not trying to play tonsil hockey, and respect others by not thinking the parks will be a freak fest because it's going to be gay days.

Just had to get this off my chest!

I think when any <insert group name here> gets together they tend to find strength in numbers and act in a way they normally don't act. Like on Grad Nights etc...

My friend went down during the week you mentioned and it wasn't so much the hand holding but rather some of the inappropriate clothing. There were countless t-shirts with sayings on them that obviously funny to the people who were there for "days" but it is very difficult to explain the meaning to a 5 year old who just learned to read and likes to practice that skill! Respect runs both ways. I am a very open minded person and I can accept anyone's lifestyle. But I'd rather not be forced to have to explain "adult" things to my 5 year old in line for Space Mt. b/c someone was wearing an obnoxious shirt to place crawling with kids. Not the way to gain "acceptance" IMHO.

I would also like to point out that a few people are just honestly concerned because of the large volume of people expected for gay Days. Same with ?'s about the Tom Joyner Family Reunion or Nights of Joy or MVMCP. People are concerned with how it will affect their touring.

I live in a very small town where yes there are gay people, but not very many...or at least not very many who are open about it. It's a very close knit, small and at times very un PC. I have no problems with Gay days or any other group for that matter. But if Jim Bob Smith from up the street found out gay days was during his trip, and he doesn't really know any of "those people" as HE would say, in his ignorance he would be concerned. About what he may or may not see, or what he'll hear.......or a thousand other things going through his head.

So, his DW Charamaine goes to the library, get on the Internet, types in Disney and finds the Dis. SHe types in her ? about gay days and within a few hours she learns that it's OK, it's not going to be a wild, lecherous party and Jim Bob only needs to be concerned becasue it will be crowded. (Oh and he may want to avoid wearing red, because well.....because)

So, in my opinon either way I don't think most of the ?'s are meant to be offensive, harmful, bigoted, or narrow minded. People have never been during that event and just want some more info.

And yes, my town IS that small, and it CAN be that narrow, and Jim Bob is based on any one of the guys I grew up with. I'm glad it's not from the water!!

I've had worse times during both the Brazilians and the Baptise groups then I had on Gaydays . I also don't think the crowds are that much worse either as many (boycott) the parks and stay away so it worked for us.
