Are hotels now charging you for accepting packages from home?

I just read in the latest issue of All Ears that hotels are now charging by the weight for accepting packages sent down there. The woman said she was charged over $30. If this is true then it would no longer make sense to send boxes of snacks down there. Has anyone else encountered this?

I read that too, right after I mailed my package to All Stars Movies. I contained a few things like hair dryer, gifts for the kids, some candy. Not too heavy, but kind of large. I will not be happy If they charge me a "handling" fee. I'll let y'all know if they do.

Bumping this up--has anyone done this recently?

Jill

I called the Contemporary directly about this and was told "absolutely not." The person I spoke to had never heard of such a thing.
