Are girls still into American Girl stuff?

I don't see as many girls carrying them around as I used to.

I'm wondering whether to get my 7 year old one.

Around my neck-of-the-woods they sure are. I'm a children's librarian, the books circulate like crazy, and we have a VERY well attended American Girl Tea Party every year. When the TV movies were shown a couple of months ago, it was all the girl's were talking about.

They are great books. :)

DStepD (9) got her first one for Christmas and she went nuts. She's been reading the books and has wanted one for about a year now. She was so gaga over it, we ordered her another one for her birthday (which is 1 week from today). I can't wait to hear how she reacts. So around here, yes, they are "very" into them.

We bought her Samantha for Christmas and she's getting Elizabeth for her birthday. I also read somewhere that there is a line of dolls at Wal-mart (god forbid anyone should shop there  JK) that has clothes very similar to American Girl and their clothes fit and are a lot less expensive. I haven't looked into it yet but may.

My oldest daughter 9 doesn't care for them anymore but my youngest likes hers alot. She doesn't play with it everyday but she does like them. We got her elizabeth and marisol for Christmas. They are very beautiful and well made. I was surprised that she didn't ask for more stuff for her birthday but she has asked for a video ipod.

*LOL* You should see the store in NYC! It's always a huge mob scene! My dd loves her's. She has Hallie (Hopscotch Hill) & Nellie.

My dd's are 17 & 13, so were are, sadly :( , past the AG age. Both girls still keep their dolls in their rooms though - they were very special & of all the toys they had through their childhood, these remain the most special to them.

We still get the catalogs - my 13 y.o. still grabs them when they come. She's still got a little bit of "little" girl in her & the AG stuff brings it out. So, those dolls created very special memories in my house.

Both my girls want to visit the AG store when we go to NYC - just for old times sake, of course. ;)

Yes, my daughter's friends all have them -- several actually.

DD has a Bitty Baby and accessories given to her by her Godmother, but she has never really been into it. She's not really into baby dolls...unless of course it's baby Ariel. Anything with Ariel's face on it is Golden.

my two girls love them

one has: samantha, josefina and a of today-also coconut

the other: Nellie, Elizabeth and Felicity-also licorice and penny the horse

The AG store in NYC does a BOOMING business. The answer is a definite yes.

My DD could open her own store thanks to Grandma :rotfl: . She and her friend still play with their dolls.

I just read that there is a new doll coming out named Jess based and the book is written by a woman from Minnesota. Jess is the daughter of archaeologists and she goes on digs with them.

jess is supercute and she has her own monkey! Monkeys are very popular with the 9-13 age set in my area. Especially since Limited too started clothes with the PJ the monkey on them

I see them a bit down here and had never heard of American Girl until the past year or so.

To my knowledge I didn't know anyone growing up who had one--though they might have and I just didn't know that it was a specific doll.

My niece's are crazy about them! (They all live in NY). And I know some of the ladies at work buy them for their grandkids, but other than that I don't know.

They are still popular - LOL

DD got her first AG doll for Xmas this year - so did alot of other girls in her school. DD said all the girls are talking about which one they got. I think the new Jess doll is very cute!
