Are gators frequently spotted at the Port Orleans resort?

Just run in zig zags if you see one! there vision is based straight ahead lol. i learned that after moving to FL, and being a city girl i was like "what have i gotten myself into??" I fear for them as well so i hope i dont see one at POR

From DH: I have heard this before (and seen it on e websites...However, Not that it would ever happen..... But, I think you are thinking crocodiles (only found in EXTREAM southern Florida)... With Alligators (what you find in C. Florida), if they become agressive, the best place you can be is GONE (or up a tree) Where you DONT want to be is beside them. In front of them=OK, beside them=lunchmeat. Their "strike zone" is to their side jaws. So, Alligators cannot attack head on. They may snap head on, but because of their physiology, they cannot strike directly in front of them. Also, gators are not very agressive (unless nesting), and not terribly fast. People see and hear stories about crocs.... same family, different animal...totaly different behavior.

So, if you see one, just stay back... keep the wee ones back and enjoy it. Not need to be scared, they are not very agressive. If they happen to be hanging out next to a bush or a mound of soil... give them plenty o space as they may be nesting depending on the time of year.

I have seen many gators (one was caught at an apartment complex I was living at). I feel really bad for them, we are squeezing them out of their homes. And by feeding them, it makes them more likely get into a situation where they are having to be caught.

They are rarely aggressive. You don't want to be in a swamp with them, IMHO - but if you see one walking around Disney (which I have, but not often), they aren't likely to be that close to you, and they generally just want to sun themselves and be in the water. The ducks have more to worry about. And people might look at you funny if you start running in zig-zags while a gator is just lounging. :)

They are seen frequently but they are such "Good eatin'" that you'll have to run a whole lot faster than I can if you're looking for dinner or something.

Suffice to say I don't have to tell you "meth and gators" simply don't mix. :)

Tag Fairy, slap that one on! :rotfl2: :happytv: :rotfl:

I have been living in FL for four years and I have seen a grand total of three gators in the wild. I even live near canals and play golf and still only three. I saw one at WDW down in a drainage area off World Dr. I think it was the exchange where you get off to YC, BC, BW, & MGM. It was on the woods side, not the developed side. I cannot stand all of the racoons down here. They love to get in your trash at night. They also look more intimidating at night when they hiss at you instead of just running off. We basically have tons of wildlife down here, so you just learn to live with it and be careful.

We saw two gators within an hour of each other while playing golf at the Magnolia course. Right across the street from the Poly. One was swimming and was bigger but the other one was sunning itself and was pretty small. Neither payed us any attention. But we didn't mess with them either.

I have seen one by a small little pond on our way to the Disney grounds from Magical Express. I have never seen on on property and I really like to look. I have walked the walkway from Epcot to MGM twice and have I run in the mornings and have never seen any. :confused3 I have never seen snakes, that the lord, but I have seen many little lizards. They are really cute and we like to count to see how many we can find in a day. One day while visiting AK we saw over 100 lizards. I have touched a snake at Affection Section in Rafiki's Planet Watch and I thought I was going to shed my own skin. :scared1: That was the first time touching a snake and it was so sick!!!

Have fun and enjoy yourself!!

There are at least two that I've seen at POFQ...but they are playing instruments and wearing Mardi Gras costumes...so I imagine they are too busy to bother anybody!;)
