is the cost of gas rising where you live? its $3.09 and rising here in louisville ky. we planned to drive down to see the magic but the cost of gas has prevented that. i hope the people on the magic know that gas has gone way up since they left LA. :confused3

I can see the gas sign from my desk at work through the window. $3.39 for regular.

At least you're not in GA where people went into total craziness yesterday. I think people lost their minds yesterday here. There were rumors that we would run out of gas in GA by tomorrow. So everyone in their brother ran to gas stations. They were 15-20 deep at gas stations near my condo. So the really nice gas station people decided to raise prices. Some stations were up to $5 and $6 per gallon for regular unleaded. It was so crazy. Finally the GA gov. put a stop to it the prices going up. Of course now some of the stations do not have gas b/c of all the people that ran to them yesterday. I'm so glad we are flying next week to meet the magic.

Many places in the South recieve thier gas from refineries in LA, needless to say no new gass is coming out due to the hurricane. Some places have about a 5 day supply. We in NC have been asked to limit travel as much as possible. There are many places that have long lines for gas. My suggestion is to hunker down and stay loose, don't travel unless you have to. If you have a cruise coming up and are driving you have a hard call to make. Most of this spike is related to hurricane from what I understand

Here the cheapest we could find it today was $2.79 but it jumps .10 everytime we go by it seems. We have our cruise next Saturday do you think things will be a little better by then (meaning they won't be out of gas?)? I don't like paying high prices but will to go on the cruise!

I'm here in Orlando and there is no gas, anywhere. My husband had to drive home on fumes.

yes, I too live in Georgia. I had not had the news on yesterday, as I homeschool my kids and we were busy with lessons. I left for church and noticed that I needed gas...my gas light was on-not just me panicking. The 2 gas stations by my house were both $3.08 (they had been $2.69 that morning) with lines blocking the street. I went on b/c Wal Mart will give you 3 cents off a gallon if you use a gift card...I'm not stupid-I'll take what I can get! I waited for about 20 minutes...again, not b/c I was panicking, but b/c my gas light was on and I HAD to have gas! Fortunately, I only paid $2.78 (yikes-did I say ONLY???), but as I got closer to the interstate, the prices got higher, and the lines got longer. By the time I was on my way home later that night, 8 of the 10 gas stations I passed were out. EEEW! I told my kids...no special trips for this that or the other...we're combining trips. My son just landed a paid part in a play, but the theatre is 10 miles away...the money he's earning was going to be his spending money on the boat...with the price of gas, I'm afraid I might have to "charge" him some for gas...EEKS!!!

Still under $3 in Port Canaveral - if they have gas. From the radisson web cam:

How scary!!! We'll be arriving on 9/17 and have a minivan rented. I'm very concerned on whether or not we'll even get a vehicle if there is no gas or how we'll get to the port. Of course, my problems are miniscule compared to those of the Gulf Coast. My thoughts and prayers are with them. We have planned a trip to new orleans (already booked and paid for airfare and rental house) in feb, and assuming air has resumed by then, we may just turn it into a volunteer vacation. Can't think of a better way to help my fellow Americans.

p.s. Gas here was $2.99 this morning. Make sure to check out www.gasbuddy.com for prices of the cheapest gas near you.

$3.09 here in Northern Kentucky. I filled both cars up the day before it went up at a pice of $2.69 a gallon. Shew.I have been watching MSNBC all day so I feel kind of crappy fussing over gas prices though. :sad2:

Tuesday night I topped off the tank here outside Orlando and it was 2.55. Yesterday am 2.68 and the highest last night coming home was 2.81. I'm afraid to see what it is today.
We won't be traveling around too much.

I'll have to avoid that station in the next couple days. It has gone up drastically in recent days. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZSYYYYYYYYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_20_2.gif' alt='Shocked' border=0></a>

my husband works in downtown Boston and he saw prices as high $3.50. :earseek:

I live in upstate ny and the prices here jumped to $3.19-$3.29 a gallom, people are just mad, I work at a car dealership and it is hurting our buisness big time. :badpc:

Wasn't it pure chaos...I was totally amazed at how some people were freaking out. I've never seen anything like it in my life. :earseek: Now a lot of the gas stations around here at work and home are out!

fyi- there are big threads already on the budget board about this topic. :teeth:

I am nervous about the airports running out of jet fuel... we have two trips planned, one at the end of this month (our first DCL cruise) and then I have a girls cruise planned for the week after the DCl cruise.

BUT who am I to complain about anything, as I sit here sipping my ice water and eating a sandwich.

Gas here (outside of Chicago) went from $2.79 to $3.15 in just 2 days.
