ok, I am a California gal and I wear flip flops 24/7 during the summer (who am I kidding? YEAR ROUND I wear them! :rotfl: )! I have anything from very casual to dressy ones. Would those be ok to wear to dinner with some capris? For example, this is a pair I own right now: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/17357602/c/6.html Hope the link works! Would those be ok to wear or too tacky?

Ok not sure how much my opinion will count since I am a Cali girl and wear my flip flops year round :thumbsup2 BUT.............I think they would be fine. The kind you show in your link is similar to a few pairs I have and most people see them as more of a "dressy" sandal then a flip flop really. After much planning once onboard I seemed to notice there are no hard and fast rules. So I think as long as you put forth the effort to look your best that is fine. Oh just don't wear anything with a Juicy logo on the butt..............there is a whole other thread on that! :rotfl:

I have worn them, and will continue to do so. Perhaps not at PALO, but certainly in the dining rooms. I come from the great white north, and when I can go in flip flops, you bet I will do so.:yay:

We went on a 4 night cruise in September and I wore my rainbows every single night to dinner. And on the 10 night holiday cruise I wore my rainbows on the semi-formal night. Oh and I wore them the last night! It's a cruise ship...I say that flip-flops/sandals are acceptable!:goodvibes

Another flip-flop girl here! Unless it's below 50 degrees F I've got 'em on my feet!

Yep, dressy flip flops are okay for the dining rooms, except for semi-formal and formal nights (and not for Palo). I wore jeans at dinner, too, most nights-- but the super-pricey dressy dark-wash kind with a dressy top and heels. Some people hate the idea of jeans but I assure you, my outfit looked more dressy than the many pairs of capris and sandals seen in the dining rooms.

It's really not anything to worry about-- except for Palo and the dress-up nights. Just look "sharp" and you'll fit right in.

Another flip flop girl here who says they will be perfectly fine to wear to dinner!!!

IMO there are flip flops and then there are flip flops..

If you would wear them to the beach and get them wet, without getting upset then that is not a good style to wear to dinner...

If on the other hand you got them sandy/wet, and you were mad about it... then they should be fine to wear...

DD & I wear sandals everynight to dinner and we don't notice what others are wearing on your feet. If they are comfy then wear them.

Agree with most previous posts - I wear flip flops whenever I can, and dressy heeled "flip flops" like the link above, are perfectly fine for Palo, formal night, semi formal night, whatever. I wouldn't wear my reefs to dinner, but I would wear a flip flop with a heel (I have 3" heel flip flops!) with my cocktail dresses. Enjoy!!

Go for it! Strappy sandals are all I saw on our cruise in May. I wore leather heeled thong sandals for semi formal night and I was comfortable and felt stylish.

thanks everyone! I hate enclosed shoes or sandals, and wear my flip flops whenever I can get away with it. I do have quite a variety of them! ;) I wouldn't wear them to formal night, semi formal or Palo, however, I do like the style that smores posted, with the heel! I wouldn't call that a flip flop though, more like a strappy sandal!

I wore "dressy" flip flops to dinner with capris a few nights. No one seemed bothered by it so I'd say it's not a problem. :thumbsup2

Except for formal and semi-formal nights, dinner is very cruise casual. DH wore jeans and I wore capris with sandals.

it's so funny,i'm from hawaii but when i go to the mainland, i always refer to flip flops as slippers and no one understands what i'm talking about. so one day i was at a jcrew store and when the lady gave me a weird look when i asked where the "slippers" were, i was finally corrected on the term "flip flops."

so, now, my understanding is that flip flops are the rubber slippers that i wear 24/7.(a beach type shoe) However, SANDALS are entirely a different shoe than a "flip flops." to me, anything not rubber is considered a sandal.

so, my answer is sandals, yes!! rubber flip flops(without any frills, just 100% rubber), no:)

btw, yours on the zappos pic are fine:)
