Are Disney being lenient with banked points?

So we recently closed on our first DVC contract and have booked to go April - May next year. The slight issue with this is we are from the UK.

Our contract came with 41 2019 points (which I have rented out) and 122 banked 2020 points with a Feb UY which would mean we need to use by 31st January 2021. Now we are hopefully using these on our 2021 April trip and have been used for our booking so far.

I am just thinking if there is no air corridor, we could move to later in the year but if we still cannot go is the only option to rent them? I was just wondering whether Disney has applied any leniency at all, and might allow us to move them into 2022?

I don't know of any leniency. So yes, you would have to rent them if you can't use them by Jan-2022

Sorry, I can't see that happening, the resorts and parks are open, so you'll need to rent them.

They should not be making any more extensions unless the resorts close down again,

To be honest, they didn’t need to do what they did and we now know that what they really did was use their own points for owners with banked points...they didn’t really extended.

With resorts open, its business as usual in terms of owners having the ability to book rooms.

I feel bad for those with travel restrictions, especially overseas, but unfortunately those can’t be used as a reason to overload the system.

Don't expect to see them change anything.
For the first time ever, we are trying to rent points as we won't be able to use them before they expire next year. I was going to bank them, but with the current restriction of less than 50% of your stay can be paid with banked points, that wasn't really going to be useful.

I don’t believe there is any limitation on the use of banked points - the 50% limitation is on borrowed points. You can use all the banked points you have.

This is not accurate, You can not borrow more than 50% of your contracts.

But, banking is still 100% and all can be used.
