Are dining credits being pooled or not?

I am reading so many posts and want to know if people are guessing or speculating or actually heard an official word on the dining credits being pooled. I would like to know when would it stop etc. We are going next week (for 2 weeks), so 1 week we pay for dining and the week after its free. We have 2 adults and 2 children, plus 1 free 18 mos old. I am wondering if they are going to change it in the middle of our stay because of the free dining. Its just so hard to plan when you have no idea whats going on. Is Disney going to explain theis whole plan when I check in. I am also confused about if the kids can get appetizers from the adult menu if the kids menu doesn't have one, and can the kids order adult meals at cs places or not. The Q and A on this site says yes, but posters are saying no. I really just wanted things to go smoothly and not be so confusing. Sorry to keep repeating myself, I really am excited to be going and will have a great time no matter what. I would just like to know whats going on, so if anyone knows please fill me in. Thanks

When a kids menu is available, they can only order off of the kids menu if you intend to use the dining plan. They are now enforcing a rule that when a childs menu is available, the child may NOT order an adult appetizer (unless you pay out of pocket) regardless of what the childs menu offers. If you pay out of pocket, they can eat whatever they want.

As for pooling, there has been mixed word on this. If you don't want to be confused or concerned, then assume that pooling is not allowed.

While the Q&A threads can be very valuable, you must read them with caution b/c as time goes on, WDW changes policies and procedures...so while something may have been true when it was posted on that thread, it may not be true now.

They have not stopped pooling the dining credits as of yet. No one knows when or IF they will. Have an alternative plan if they stop pooling them.
